Overall, my experience was below expectations. My Accor ALL Platinum benefits were not proactively provided. I had to ask for them and was actually blamed for having the do not disturb sign on my door as they apparently tried to deliver my welcome amenity. I was never told until I asked during my second day. I had an issue with room noise from the room above mine at around 23.00 on both nights of my stay. When I called the front desk, no one answered. The hotel needs to fix the peeling in the windows and breakfast food quality could be improved in terms of seasoning and quality. Despite my Accor ALL status, I still got charged for a bottle of water. Unlike the other hotel programs, no such thing as complimentary water or coffee/tea. On a more positive note, the location is great being so close to Copacabana beach. Check in staff was efficient and very attentive. The room and bed were cozy but the sound insulation was not the best.

Amazing breakfast and great service, just in front of Copacabana beach. The place is super clean and beautiful. If you pay attention, all plants are real and they keep it in very good condition, there are a lot of details in decoration that makes you feel you are in a top place.

Room is small for double bed. Pillows are flat and old. Elevators are tiny. However the breakfast is impressive with very good service. The hotel registration is on the different address at small alleyway and little bit confusing. There should have been a sign in front on the main street

My wife and I stayed here on holiday and had a wonderful time enjoying the great location of the hotel and its fantastic facilities. It was very recently refurbished and so we felt quite fortunate to be one of the first people to experience the updated decor. There is plenty of space in the communal areas and a lovely rooftop bar/pool with view of Copacabana beach and Sugarloaf Mountain. It is also very close to Ipanema beach which has a more relaxed vibe. However, most of all we were blown away by how kind and helpful all of the staff were. My wife was unwell whilst we were staying here but the people of the hotel went out of their way to make sure she had everything she needed to get better. We are incredibly grateful to all of staff but wanted to mention two in particular. Rowan met us when we first arrived and showed us round the hotel. We usually would like to explore on our own but it was a good idea as the layout of the lifts was tricky to begin with! He was also one of the first to offer to help when he heard my wife was ill and arranged for a doctor to visit her and give advice (whilst interpreting). As well as Rowan we are also very thankful to Dylan who was able to offer advice/tips about the area and managed to alleviate a lot of the concerns I had. The Grand Mercure Copacabana is fortunate to have such great staff as Rowan & Dylan on their books!
