The hotel is very modern. Multiple USB and power points in the room. Mattress on the bed was great. The bed coverings are man made and lead to excessive perspiration. So I awoke in a lake it felt. Breakfast buffet is good however it takes 20 min sometimes to get a tea/coffee (a self serve option needs to be offered) and the price for the breakfast is extremely high, even for this grade of hotel. Other than the above, the hotel staff service is great with a smile as expected. Changing elevators to get to rooms from the entrance is a pain and confusing. However not much can be changed to fix this.

This has been one of the best hotels we have stayed. Prior to us arriving in Seoul, they responded to all my requests and questions such as restaurant bookings and airport transfers without any issues. We booked a limo transfer and we were duly picked up at the airport. When we arrived at the hotel, Cherry was there to welcome us. She guided us thro the hotel and got us checked in. The room key caused a problem so Cherry took us to the guest services area in 5th floor. Every staff we met were extremely gracious and very pleasant. Our room was absolutely amazing. It was spacious with an extremely comfortable bed. We had an amazing river and view of the highest building! Our hotel is right beside the Lotte Mall and line 2 subway so it is extremely convenient. The whole area is extremely clean and spacious. We know this is not exactly city center but we love the hotel. The restaurants they recommended were absolutely superb. This is a great hotel. Amazing staff. Excellent location.

とても高級なホテルなのだから、空港送迎など無料サービスをつけてほしい。ウェルカムドリンクとか。宿泊者無料で使える軽食ラウンジもなかったし、なにより駅からロッテビル脇を通って行った時の入り口がわかりにくい。エスカレーターが先に見えたので上がると今度はレセプション位置の案内がなく不明。一番は部屋のwi-fiが全く繋がらなかったこと。マリオット系列では無料で利用できるスナックラウンジがあるし、wi-fiは部屋ごとにパスワードがある。今時セキュリティがダメなパスワード無しwi-fiなど安全ではなく、よくないと思う。レイクビューに変更はしてもらったが、完全なレイクビューではないし、シティービューなら、もっと安くていいクオリティである。

Mixed Experience at Sofitel Ambassador Seoul - Modern Rooms but Service Needs Improvement

We stayed at the Sofitel Ambassador Seoul for three nights with another couple, booking two rooms through the AMEX Platinum Hotel Collection. While my friend received a room upgrade, we unfortunately did not even though we checked in at the exact same time. The staff said the hotel was at capacity, but the explanation didn’t make sense given our identical check-in timing, and the interaction felt a bit unfriendly. The rooms themselves are modern and comfortable, and the hotel has a nice kids’ play area with plenty of children’s books, which is a great touch for families. The location is excellent right next to Lotte Shopping Center with many restaurants, cafes, and convenience stores within a short walk. However, several aspects of the stay were disappointing. The “Lake Room” upgrade definitely wasn't worth it. The view was more of the neighboring building’s HVAC system than the lake, so I’d recommend staying on lower floors instead. The elevators were also extremely slow, which became frustrating. The breakfast setup was particularly unpleasant. They operate on three strict time slots and repeatedly reminded us how much time we had left to eat, even though we were far from exceeding the limit and half the restaurant was empty. Being told multiple times to hurry felt unnecessary, rushed, and not at all a relaxing or enjoyable dining experience. Breakfast itself was good, but since it isn’t included with AMEX FHR, it becomes expensive over multiple days. Throughout the hotel, the service felt inconsistent and not very friendly. The pool and kids’ area were nice, but the air conditioning in our room never cooled properly it seemed like there was a temperature limiter. Overall, the hotel has modern facilities and a great location, but service issues, the strange breakfast system, and several inconveniences made the stay less enjoyable than expected.
