We spent a few days here with our two young kids. Beautiful place, and plenty of activities for kids. Our kids enjoyed feeding ducks, fishes and peacocks; and enjoyed their time at the small outdoor garden and the indoor ball pit. My wife loved the spa, and I enjoyed the singing bowl meditation during our stay. I wished I’d done one more session!

The worst experience I have ever had in banyan tree

It was the worst check in I ever had not even 2 star hotel. When arrived, there are so many people checking in a very disorganized way. When rooms were assigned to us and I signed the form, she found out that the room already been given to some other guest. Then she had to go and find another room and claimed that was upgraded to river view. When I got to the room, it was not with river view as she claimed. BTW, we were in lobby almost for 40 min and no one offered us towel or drink! There is a guy that was serving this for all people in lobby but us. I am sure it has to do with the way we look or dress! When I asked Jessica (check in receptionist) for the manager she said She is the manager. Then I told her to call for her manager she brought the same guy who was serving the welcome drinks (Danny He) who confirmed he is the manager. Absolutely losing case managment member and again claimed he is the manager. When I asked about the resort manager he said Kimly whom I found that she is front desk manager but not resort manager. He said the manager is in a meeting and will call you. Then I found out from Danny He that the resort manager is (Nora Sun) and she does not want to come/call and meet me. He said Kimly will call. I stayed in my room for almost 3 hours and still no one called. Way below acceptable service let alone luxury standards and very discriminating and disrespectful behaviour by all managment members whom I met (especially Danny He). Offcourse the worst are the managment whom refused to meet or call (Kimly and Nora Sun).

Good property for family vacation, not during mainland school holidays

Airport transfer was smooth. Check-in was not expected due to set up and peak hours with guests queing and making inquiries of all sorts. The concierge manager was not helpful, and we almost decided not to join some of the hotel tours. Fortunately, on our 2nd day, we approached one of the junior staff, and he sat down to explain the programs and came up with a well thought out recommendation based on our preferences. Room is clean and spacious with daily snacks. Good place for families with kids to roam the garden feeding ducks, fishes and peacocks. Breakfast restaurant offers standard American/Continental and Asian choices. Facilities include a gym, spa and activities throughout the day to keep all busy.

A Poetic Retreat Amidst Scenic Mountains and Waters Banyan Tree Yangshuo is beautifully situated along the Li River, offering a serene escape from the hustle and bustle. Although slightly remote (about a 30-minute drive from Yangshuo Xijie), this seclusion fosters a tranquil atmosphere, perfect for relaxation. Villa Experience We spent 5 days and 4 nights in a stunning villa by the Li River. Spacious and elegantly maintained, it featured a private courtyard with breathtaking views. Waking up each morning in this picturesque setting was one of the highlights of our journey. The room included a tea brewing set with local tea leaves, which we thoroughly enjoyed during our tea time. Hotel Amenities and Services The hotel enhances the vacation experience with daily changes of incense and essential oils, promoting deep relaxation. The WeChat butler service was incredibly convenient, providing 24/7 access to seamless requests at our fingertips. The in-room bathtub was a standout feature, complemented by exceptional spa services, including both relaxing and romantic treatments. Fun for Kids Our two boys were enchanted by the free-range peacocks and alpacas on the property, and feeding the animals brought them immense joy. The expansive natural environment and interactions with these charming pets created unforgettable memories for our family. The swimming pool, overlooking the Li River, offered stunning views and was perfect for the kids to enjoy with bubble pool party. Local Activities The hotel can arrange numerous local adventures. We tried rafting along a beautiful scenic route, professional rock climbing with experienced group of coach and photographers, as well as an ATV adventure and a cave excursion—all astonishing experiences. Dining Experience The hotel’s Chinese restaurant offered a rich variety of dishes, skillfully balancing local flavors with other renowned Chinese cuisines, making every meal a delight. Breakfast and afternoon tea were surprisingly good, featuring a wide range of choices and attentive service. Overall Evaluation For families seeking a harmonious blend of tranquility and nature, Banyan Tree Yangshuo is an ideal choice. The stunning scenery of the Li River, exquisite villa facilities, and thoughtful service details (like the daily changing scents) created an experience that exceeded our expectations. While it is a bit distant from the town, this precious solitude among the mountains and waters is a truly rare gift.

Family Stay at the beautiful Banyan Tree Yangshuo

We were a family of 3 and booked 3 nights at Banyan Tree Hotel. Location - The location is a bit further from the center (West Street) but getting there is still quite convenient given the easy access to Taxis and DiDi, on the way there the town looks less developed and to my surprise there was a few "family restaurants" that had some exotic dishes on display. But once you drive into Banyan tree the atmosphere changes completely, you really do feel like you're in a high end resort. Check-in and The Resort - Check-in can be quite busy, it is a busy period (School Holiday) we went but there's plenty of sofas and rest area with air-con, there's also a small ice-cream cart but you'll need to pay around 40RMB per popsicle. The person check-in us in was called Mario, he was very polite and professional, we booked the Pagoda Lake Suite but because I was gold accor plus member they upgraded me to a villa. I asked for the Li River view villa but it would cost additional upgrade fee, which I did opt-in, there is only 12 Li River view villas in the resort. Once the check-in was done because we upgraded, they room wasn't ready yet, so they kindly gave us a suite to stay and relax in once the room was ready, which was exceptional given that outside temperature hit 37 degrees. We walked towards the Pagoda suite to relax and along the way the resort was beautiful, the garden was very well maintained, the river had ducks and fishes (which you can feed) it looks just like one of those scenes from Chinese TV series. There was also a LOT of peacocks. The Room - The Li River view villa was massive, we stayed at 113 which is on the further end of the villas. Once you walk in through the front gate there was a small area with a table and 2 seats, this separates our room with the neighbor, more like a common indoor area. When we got inside the room it was huge. The living room was about 25sqm, it was clean and decor as expected had a very classic Chinese feel, the room had a big king size bed enough for the 3 of us to co-share (my daughter is only 5 so she's tiny). There was a desk overlooking the garden and the Li River view. The bathroom was huge with a massive round tub in the center. The living room opens to the garden which was massive and which you can see the Li River, interestingly the mountain opposite to us looked like a "Lucky Cat". Definitely worth the upgrade.
