Stayed 2 nights. Friendly welcome. Got to the room and the AC did not work. Needed new batteries. TV did not work - "no signal". Front desk suggested it would be looked at by IT tomorrow. Then discovered that the wifi did not work - another tomorrow job. Tomorrow arrived and wifi and TV still did not work - and it turned out that iT only visit every few months. TV eventually got to work but absilutely no wi-fi - demonstrated to front desk staff who agreed. No point in having good staff if the basic product supplied is crap.

I booked in for two nights for a work trip. The Mercure offering was sub-standard and unsatisfactory. Arrived after 8pm and discovered that the room I had been allocated had: - no internet or signal available in the room - the fridge didn't work - booked a double but got a twin - bedside lamp didn't work - given no internet or phone signal, there no work centre with internet access to work from in the meantime which meant i was literally working from my car in the carpark. After working with the wonderful Espie at reception who advised they were booked out, she found a solution which meant I would be reallocated to two different rooms for each night of my stay. Had to pack up after night 1 and then on coming back on night 2, was thankful my luggage etc was in the new room but discovered that yet again I'd been allocated a twin room and that there were no towels, bathmat, hand towels or washers provided which meant I couldn't shower before going out for a team dinner. Very disappointing overall. The staff were great to problem solve however they shouldn't have to problem solve in the first place.

The cost per night is quite expensive at £250 per night. When I called to reconfirm my booking and asked about breakfast times, I was advised that there was no restaurant but that there were cafes a short walk away. I was never told that the RSL next door would be open for breakfast for Mercure guests. I and another guest found this out some days later.
