Absolutely delightful hotel. Loved the old school charm and history of the place. The service and the people working there are exceptional - especially the concierge team and butler team. Our room was great. the food and beverage we experienced was delicious. Cant recommend it enough.

It’s in a class of his own

We stayed here when we were in Phnom Penh at the time of the River Festival in November. Outside it was great fun but chaotic, hot and noisy but once you stepped through the hotel doors it was an oasis of cool and calm. The staff are wonderful and so helpful, our room with a balcony overlooking the pools was immaculate and the bed extremely comfortable. The only thing I would say is that although to save waste and plastic bottles it a good idea to have large containers of toiletries, if the pumps on them don’t dispense the contents effectively, they become a nuisance every time you take a shower. The bottles are also quite heavy and I wouldn’t like to be the person who dropped one on my toe! There was a wide choice of high quality food at breakfast, the swimming pool in the courtyard was never very busy and thus very relaxing and quiet. Like other hotels in the Raffles group, it’s in a class of his own, not cheap but well worth the money.

A beautiful hotel. This is a gorgeous and elegant building and the service is wonderful throughout the hotel. I had a wonderful experience. The rooms are very comfortable as is the pool area and the food choices are excellent. The location is very central and convenient to everything.

Lovely typical Raffles property

Lovely classic Raffles hotel, good location in Phnom Penh. Lovely Elephant Bar for cocktails. Pool area is really nice, and lunch is great there. Breakfast was delicious. Bedrooms are nice, not massive but fine for a couple of nights stay in the city!

Calm and Cocktails

Wonderful to stay in such an iconic building, with such a history. We ended up paying bit extra (very reasonable upgrade, though) to stay in a suite in the main (old) building and so glad we did. It’s like stepping back in time (although with all the modern touches you require) and I felt we could have been in an Agatha Christie novel (without a murder to solve, fortunately!). I was reading about the role of the hotel in the troubled times of the mid-70s and how the journalists saw the hotel as a haven to get back to from the front line. Well, Phnom Penh isn’t like that now, and is a wonderfully chaotic city to visit, but Le Royal was still a haven of calm to return to; to sit around the pool, drink cocktails in the Elephant Bar (we did have a few…), or have a meal in the cafe restaurant, which also was superb (and very reasonable from a London-price perspective). We felt very spoilt and lucky to have been there, and to have visited such a wonderful country - it’s the people who make a trip and Le Royal and its team played a key, wonderful, part in that. If ever back in Phnom Penh (and I have a feeling we will be in the not too distant future), I know where we will be staying…and where the calm and the cocktails will be waiting.
