We stayed here for one night and were very happy with the experience. Hotel is centrally located, has comfortable beds, and very helpful staff. We loved that they emailed us a guide to Osaka before our stay. We also greatly appreciated them providing a kettle in our room and extra blankets. Only issue is the water tended to get everywhere when we showered because they had one of those glass panel showers where half of it was still open, but that's quite minor.

Luxury stay

Luxury stay in the centre of town. We booked the executive level and had the most amazing room, use of the onsen and sauna as well as nightly drinks and snacks in the lounge. Breakfast in the top floor restaurant was wonderful with incredible views. The hotel is well maintained and feels luxurious and all the staff were fantastic. All the tourist attractions are at your doorstep as is lots of restaurants. We were sad to leave!

Nice hotel in a convenient location

Hotel is located at a convenient location that is linked to the Namba Station. Hotel is also very clean and staff were able to converse in English. Housekeeping staff were very friendly and were efficient in their service whenever you requested for items.

A Family Stay at Swissotel Nankai: Excellent Location, but Some Surprises in Room Arrangements

I recently stayed at Swissotel Nankai Osaka with my family after enjoying great experiences at Keio Plaza Hotel and The New Otani Garden Hotel in Tokyo. Both of those hotels consider guests aged five and older as adults, which made booking straightforward. Swissotel Nankai's policy of allowing children under 12 to stay for free was a significant plus for us. We booked three rooms for a total of JPY 876,300 for our stay from March 18 - March 24. While this is on the pricier side, it’s what you’d expect from a five-star hotel, and we were drawn to the fantastic location—just a 10-minute walk from Dotonbori and close to train stations, restaurants, and shopping malls. For my sister-in-law’s family, we chose a junior suite king, intended to accommodate her, her partner, and two kids. To our surprise, the king-size bed didn’t seem as large as expected. Although the suite had a sofa bed, we found out there would be an extra fee for setting it up, including linens and pillows. When I spoke with Aobuchi at the front desk, she explained the fee but was understanding of our concerns. After checking with her manager, she offered a 50% discount on the additional charge. However, we felt that this didn’t fully resolve our issue, so we asked to see other room options that might better fit my sister-in-law’s family. Aobuchi continued to help us and showed us another room that was similar but came with added costs. After a bit of back and forth, we finally received a better room, which we appreciated. However, it was disappointing that the duty manager, Mr. Komatani, didn’t come to speak with us directly about our concerns. I expected more engagement from management at a five-star hotel. One additional point, although not a significant issue, is that unlike Keio Plaza Hotel and The New Otani Garden Hotel, Swissotel Nankai does not offer a laundromat facility, which was a bit inconvenient for us. For those of you considering booking a room, if you are not sharing a bed with your kids, I recommend booking them as adults. This ensures that a bed will be available and helps avoid the extra costs that may arise on the day of check-in, which could have been cheaper if arranged in advance.

We had less than 12 hours in Osaka - so staying in the area of Namba made it super close to dotonbori and the station downstairs for the rapid train to the airport. And so much more besides! Wish we had more time in this fun city. The shopping arcade nearby made a much warmer and easy walk/ connection to dotonbori in winter- the wind was crazy cold! You just can’t beat the location. Due to our early morning flight out of KIX, we needed efficient staff who could arrange everything and help with our bags. Staff were helpful and v knowledgeable. Rooms were comfortable, nice views from a high floor. This is a not a luxury hotel but a very comfortable one. Bathroom is small. Hotel is pricey if compared with hotels of a similar class in Tokyo.
