No Fridge and no answer

Everything was perfect but one thing really ruined it. There is only an minibar in the rooms. It is so full, that you can't fit anything else inside. So if you want to put medicine, baby food or anything inside, prepare yourself to be charged daily for all the items you touch inside (you pay for the item you lift - its their policy), even if you just want to use it for something else. I wrote to the hotel that we are sure we did not have anything from the minibar, we just used the minibar for something else and got no answer at all.

I can hear every word the person 2 rooms down is saying. I know her entire life schedule from now until October 3. The bathroom mirror fell half off when I adjusted it. When I called down earlier today for help turning off the AC there was no answer at the front desk. I tried several times. When I called this morning to ask a fewson questions about the hotel the staff could not answer any of them. THAT SAID: The in-person front desk staff has been wonderful and are doing a great job being so understaffed. One person on the front desk even during peak check in time. When maintenance came to help me wit h the AC ( I had to go down and find a front desk person) he was great too. Summary: I was excited to stay at this historical landmark and was expecting fairmont level quality and service....that has not been the case.

Spent 4 nights here and could find no fault. We had booked a basic room but got upgraded on arrival. The room had no view but we couldn't complain as it was a lovely big room and bathroom and spotlessly clean. We did not eat in the hotel as there were lots of restaurants around and to be honest we were a bit put off if the cost of items in the mini bar were anything to go by. Hotel is in an excellent location for many tourist attractions and i would not hesitate to recommend

For decades, I've embraced staying at the Chateau Laurier hotel; it's been one of my favourite hotels in the world and I've worked in 35 countries. What happened to this place? My husband and I checked in and were shocked to find the place not in great repair (faucet taps askew, toilets rocking) and worst of all was the food served in what was once the establishment Zoe's restaurant. An awful cheese plate (served with the same condiments as the meat tray...who eats mustard with their cheese, two types of cheese instead of three) and very mediocre truffle French fries. This isn't some truck stop=this is the Chateau Laurier. What happened? COVID is no excuse. We've stayed at and eaten at Fairmont hotels in lots of places--very recently in Montreal and Seattle and Banff. They were special. This is NOT special.
We sincerely regret the disappointing experience during your stay with us. Our mission is that our guests experience the grandest of feelings and we regret that we failed to do so during your recent visit. We hope you give us another chance, by returning one day. Would stay here again but would not eat at The Terrace Restaurant. Had very put service there. The hotel is beautiful and we had a lovely room with a little niche for the desk and a view of the canal.
