It has been a bucket list item for me to stay at the plaza. The team at the Front Desk was so wonderful and accommodating our needs of needing two beds. I will say I have read reviews about the hotel prior to coming, and I must admit the reviews were not wrong to say the hotel has lost its charm. The hotel definitely carries nostalgia to it. However, it is in desperate need of renovations. It no longer carries the five star quality that you would expect from the Plaza. I am glad to have stayed there to check it off my bucket list however, I will not be back . It is not worth the money!

We had a wonderful afternoon tea in the Palm Court. Shalim was our server and he was excellent. Very attentive to detail and gave a nice explanation of the tea course offerings. The Palm Court is beautiful and the food was delicious. We will definitely be back!

PROBABLY THE WORLD'S MOST EXPENSIVE AFTERNOON TEA

Afternoon tea at the Plaza in New York is something I've always wanted to do. We visited in May for a birthday treat & whilst we did have a lovely time, the cost was exorbitant at $150 pp PLUS TIP. This must surely be the most expensive afternoon tea in the world. As it was my birthday, we went for the Central Park Tea with a glass of champagne. We had the smallest tray of tiny finger sandwiches & a lovely selection of delicate little cakes along with scones & unlimited tea. We actually asked for more sandwiches as they simply didn't fill us up & reluctantly, they brought out another plate. The Palm Court was delightful & beautifully decorated, as was the lobby area. However, this once vibrant hotel used to have lots of shops on it's ground floor but it now resembles ghost town with only a couple of VERY expensive shops still open. Our servers were great, but certainly not worth the extra $54 "suggested" tip. I've ticked this off my list now but won't come here again as it's extortionately priced & definitely not worth the money. There must be better value afternoon teas on offer in NYC somewhere.

Took my mom for her birthday and we had the most wonderful experience! Shalim and Juciana were so sweet and attentive and brought my mom a cake for her birthday and sang. It was such a beautiful experience. We’d love to come back and celebrate more events. Thank you!
