Eigentlich ein tolles Hotel mit super Pool und tollem Spa. Viele Zimmer sind aber auf veraltetem Stand - mechanische Schlüsselkarten klemmen oft, Steckdosen Fehlanzeige, Klimaanlage tw. nicht regelbar.

Wir waren im Jänner in Mandalay, die Außentemperatur betrug in der Früh 13 - 15 Grad. Kein Problem, jedoch war es im Zimmer nicht wärmer. Die Klimaanlage lässt sich dort nur zentral und nicht pro Zimmer steuern. Zudem bläst sie sehr stark. Wir hatten ein Zimmer mit Blick auf den Mandalay Hill. Dort kommt keine Sonne hin, daher konnte sich das Zimmer auch tagsüber nicht erwärmen. Trotz mehrfacher Reklamation wurden uns keine Zusatzdecken oder eine Heizmöglichkeit angeboten. Fazit: mein Mann wurde krank. Im Badezimmer gab es Schimmel! Die Zimmer sind extrem hellhörig- bei den Zimmern mit Verbindungstüre hört man alles so, als sei der Nachbar im selben Raum! Positiv: das unglaublich freundliche Personal im Restaurant und am Pool! Das Restaurant war von der Qualität ebenfalls absolut in Ordnung.

Zum ersten Mal in Manadaly wurde uns das Mercure Hotel am Mandalay Hill empfohlen. Es liegt ein wenig abseits vom eigentlichen Zentrum aber Tuktuks sind auch hier nicht teuer. Die Zimmer sind ausreichen groß, ziemlich dunkel möbliert - leider sind die Badezimmer winzig. Badewanne mit Duschvorhang ohne Handbrause ist leider so gar kein Standard mehr. Wer auf der Toilette sitzt sollte ein Warnzeichen an der Badtür anbringen, denn wenn jemand unverhofft das Bad betritt, könnte das unschöne Platzwunden am Kopf des gerade Verrichtenden verursachen, wenn der gerade angestrengt auf sein Handy schaut. Bei Aufrechtsitzern dann ,Achtung Kniescheiben‘. Echte Highlights des Hotels sind das ausgezeichnete Frühstücksbuffet mit wirklich sehr guter Auswahl und Qualität sowie die tolle Bar im kolonialen Stil mit Live-Musik, tollen individuellen Cocktails, einem Raucherbereich und einer wirklich sehr schönen, relaxten Atmosphäre. Daher trotz der Badmängel eine Empfehlung. PS - an manchen Tagen muss mit erheblicher Lärmbelästigung ab 5 Uhr morgens gerechnet werden, wenn im benachbarten Kloster sehr laute Gesänge angestimmt werden. Leider kein Isolierglas.

Grosses Hotel auch für Touristenbusse und Geschäftsreisende, aber ruhige und schöne Zimmer mit gehobenem Standard, der natürlich nicht in allen Details westlichem Standard entspricht (etwas herunter gekommene Möbilierung). Schöner Blick vor allem bei den Zimmern auf der Nordseite zum Mandalay Hill. Sehr freundliches Personal. Die Restaurants fanden wir überteuert. Wir waren zum 4. Mal in Mandalay, dies war das beste Hotel.

Das Hotel hat einen schönen Pool. Das Zimmer waren ausreichend groß, das Bad etwas klein. Die Dusche war in der Badewanne. Es gab kostenlosen Tee, Kaffee und Mineralwasser. In der gemütlichen Hotelbar gab es Life music, Happy hour von 18-20 und 22-24 Uhr. Das Frühstück war gut. Alle sehr freundlich.
