I only stayed at the ibis budget for one night during a business trip. We arrived in the late evening and used the self check in system which was easy enough to use. The room I had was small but had what is needed for a short stay. One double bed, tv, on suite shower & toilet. The room was nice and clean and pleasant enough. The hotel overall was very nice, I liked the main reception area and bar. It was very chilled and laidback. There’s plenty of comfortable seating to relax and kick back while having a drink, which also offers an outside seating, which I’m sure is nice for those warmer evenings. There’s also football table and table tennis area. The breakfast options in the morning are also great and fresh.

Let’s get the negatives over with first: it’s not exactly central Gent and the rooms are tiny. There isn’t much parking but there’s a car park at the station, three minutes’ walk away. That’s it. That’s the negatives. Now onto the positives. Because it’s a hotel that shares facilities with a more upmarket Accor brand, most other aspects are exemplary. The restaurant/bar is astounding. The pizza is restaurant-quality: proper sourdough base, good toppings and a nice atmosphere with abundant outside seating. Yes, the rooms are very small. And once the single bed (which is hidden in a wardrobe and hinges down) is down there not much room to manoeuvre. But even that single drop-down bed was comfy.

My son and i came for the weekend, mainly to go to a concert and explore Ghent. Check in and front of house staff are very efficient and helpful. No ques and check in was smooth. My son had a double room , i had the twin , both just what you need for a weekend stay , comfortable and with a good shower , and a t.v . A bonus for a hairdryer in the bathroom to use. Great heating temp control. Breakfast was included, the front of house lady was super nice and always friendly. A good selection and good coffee . A funky hotel reception area with a ping pong table, gym and plentiful of games or even bike hire . The hotel was about a 15 ,20 min into the old town area which was beautiful, a boat trip a must . A very relaxed atmosphere with plenty of bars etc All in all a fantastic weekend trip. Thankyou
