The staff are very friendly and in truth go above and beyond to make your stay as pleasurable as possible. From the moment we checked in until we left everything was perfect. We had an absolutely amazing evening meal where the staff looked after us like royalty, in the morning I could not fault the spread for our breakfast. In all a thoroughly enjoyable stay.

Hi Darren Thank you for your review and highlighting the team, we hope to welcome you back again very soon.

A tired hotel in need for some TLC

The Good – Staff David on reception was particular efficient and assisted with a smooth check-in. Parth on the bar was friendly and cheerful and went the extra mile. Unfortunately that’s where the ‘good’ ends. Room Our room was a prestige room (No. 44) in the coach house. Put simply, there was no prestige about it apart from the unisex robes, slippers and expresso machine (with no indication of what flavour/strength the accompanying pods were), there was nothing to distinguish this from a standard offering. The room was vast in height and size which meant the furniture occupied the perimeter. On the subject of furniture, it did resemble something from a student’s hall of residence though. Multiple cables draped from the inadequately small TV given the room size, and the light switches on the headboard were unique in being one chrome and one white plastic. The bathroom was equally large – which would account for the lack of floor cleaning (a dead spider was there to welcome us and still there when we left two days later). The water pressure is so low that it barely flows from the shower outlet and there is no cut off in the toilet cistern which constantly fills. Catering After check-in we visited the Bar for lunch. Placed the order with Parth at the bar. The food was delivered by a female staff member who simply put the plates down and walked off – not asking whether we wanted any condiments or cutlery. Thankfully Parth noticed this and provided both. We stayed on site for dinner for our first night and I had the burger which was cremated and my wife had an average chicken jalfrezi. At no point did any member of staff ask if everything was ok with the meal. Continuing with the Catering – for breakfast please be aware there is only scrambled eggs available for a full English. Also, I was particularly concerned that glass milk containers were left by the coffee machines with no sign of refrigeration. Grounds Walking from the Coach house to the main hotel building there is yet more evidence of a lack of investment over the years – many window frames are rotten, one is missing and foliage is growing from the gutter adjacent to reception’s main entrance. The health suite needs attention in places – particularly the steam room which had a large amount of green mold growing from the steam outlet. Several rotten window frames around the pool also highlighted the lack of maintenance. If you are thinking of staying here - just don't be wow'd by the pictures, this is a tied hotel that needs a lot of investment.

Thank you for the comprehensive review and I am sorry there were many elements of your stay that were not up to your expectations, we are working through the entire site and fixing what can be fixed. With the age of the building we are coming up against many planning challenges which we are working through with the local conservation team. We hope you see these should you choose to return in the future.
