Deserves to regain its Elegance.

karen v TripAdvisor review

Sadly the pictures on the website and on here are not reflective of the establishments actual state which is very disappointing upon arrival. The hotel has seen better days and its demise in decor etc has been mentioned in so many reviews that l am surprised Accor Hotels have not put a refurbishment/ redecoration programme in place which would elevate its status , giving an increased occupancy income and reputation. The public rooms are no longer laid out as pictured this may be a cost saving exercise which is understandable , but please update your website to reflect a true image and avoid having disappointed guests. It is indeed an elegant Victorian hotel overlooking Union Terrace Gardens in the city centre with locally-inspired design ,its Renaissance style of architecture in white Kemnay granite with stained glass windows, reflecting Aberdeen's rich and varied heritage , so come on guys give it back its elegance a lick of paint some new carpets and get on top of the maintenance this building deserves so much more and so do the WONDERFUL STAFF working in it, every member of staff and the manager encountered were friendly and competent. So a BIG UP to them ! Location 10/10 .... could not be better 100 yards from HMT , a great choice of pubs restaurants, l believe this is what has allowed the hotel to continue as it is , and whilst many guests were paying circa £75 on vouchers l think we would have all been happier paying circa £95 out of season and seeing some fresh decor .

Great location for a city break in the heart of the city

Great location. Warm welcome. Room had everything we needed. Large light bathroom. It was clean. Shower could do with more pressure. Staff at front desk and restaurant were lovely and attentive. A special thanks to Suzan who works tirelessly.

Nice old hotel, needs modernisation

This hotel is an old Victorian hotel right in the centre of the city just off union Street. It is nice enough, but does need updating sympathetically in keeping with its age. Slightly thread bare carpets on the stairs and in my room could easily be solved. Its also a bit weird now having an over bath shower. Bar area is nice which also doubles up as breakfast room. Breakfast is very good with a lovely hot and cold buffet with good options. For a small surcharge you can order freshly cooked items. I liked the location, the bar and breakfast, and that's why I'd stay again.

This is our third trip to Aberdeen in as many weeks and stayed here due to location. Unfortunately the menu had not changed at all so we were limited in choice of food. Also the wifi did not work during our stay. The hotel is now getting old and needs some updating, but the original features of the hotel make it stand out from the "box standard rooms" in most hotels.
