Thank God for the Mercure Ballarat! After 48 straight hours on disaster relief at the not so far Colac I needed some high quality Accor hotel love. Coming in just before midnight on a 45degree day at a near full capacity the team found me a wonderful accessible room. The room was impeccable with a huge spotless bathroom, powerful hot shower and the most amazingly comfortable bed and pillows. Powerful Mitsubishi air con cooled me and the room down fast! I recovered beautifully with a solid 8 hours I was so cozy I didn’t hear anything or anyone and enjoyed a wonderful buffet breakfast. The pictures of this facility do not do it justice I found the staff, rooms and grounds wonderful, serene and very welcoming. Shout out to Anita, Sarab and a huge thank you to Mr Wasif who looked after me on arrival and fetched my door card after leaving it in reception in my dazed and hyperactive state. Mercure he is a huge credit to the establishment and very very endearing and ultimately very professional and that’s coming from a seasoned traveller with hundreds of hotel experiences across the world. Thanks mate I really appreciate you. Highly recommend a stay here for everyone and please enjoy the gardens they are awesome!🙂

The rooms are clean and basic. Unfortunately my sons bed had quite a large spider run across it while he was lying on it so not the greatest start. The issue was dealt with and no further spider sightings. Beds are comfortable, basic amenities in the room. Reasonable for the price. Location directly across from Sovereign Hill.

I stayed at the hotel with my family and was disappointed with the overall standard. The Superior Room was acceptable but did not meet the expectation implied by the name. It felt like a standard room that was newly renovated rather than a premium offering. The two-bedroom apartment was old, dated, and clearly in need of refurbishment. While front desk staff were polite, they demonstrated limited knowledge of the local area and were unable to provide even basic recommendations outside the hotel. Guest were giving each other ideas of what to do or where to dine. The breakfast offering was unacceptable for the price. At $30 per person, it represents very poor value. The food was unappealing, poorly presented, and in some cases not fresh. The fruit appeared to be at least a day old. Breakfast staff lacked professionalism and energy, and the service felt disengaged. In addition, the chef did not understand the difference between well-done eggs and runny eggs, which is a basic expectation at this price point. I stayed at the hotel solely because of my Accor membership. Based on this experience, I will not return. Management needs to materially lift standards across accommodation, food quality, and service if the hotel intends to justify its pricing and brand positioning.

Comme français, il est triste de constater que cet hôtel du groupe Accor est le seul a ne pas être au niveau. Il ne faut pas se fier à la classification qui place un MERCURE au-dessus d'un IBIS ce n'est pas vrai. L'IBIS du centre de Melbourne était pour moi bien supérieur au Mercure de Ballarat. Je ne sais pas à quand remonte la dernière rénovation mais ce n'était pas hier... Ce que l'on accepte d'un motel situé dans l'outback n'est pas acceptable ici. J'ai aussi remarqué que les petites structures hôtelières dans le VIC et en NSW sont les plus propres et les plus agréables. Grande déception car il y a un gros potentiel dans cette structure. Je pense que la direction doit se rendre dans les chambres et contrôler. Quels sont les points positifs: > un petit déjeuner parfait certainement le meilleur de notre voyage > un parc très agréable > chambre de grande taille avec douche double et baignoire SPA (mais HS) > draps propres et literie confortable Les points négatifs: la chambre est vétuste et surtout elle est sale! > robinet non fixé correctement > rouille omniprésente > mouches mortes en nombre dans la chambre (aspirateur 1 fois par mois?) > toiles d'araignées sur les vitres > moquette usée et sale (épingle à cheveux et autres vestiges des précédents occupants) > huisseries en fin de vie > mobilier style début 20ème (mais peut être réellement début 20ème) En conclusion: qu'une rénovation ne soit pas possible, je le comprends mais que la moquette ne soit pas aspirée entre 2 clients et que les toiles d'araignées ne soit pas enlevées ce n'est pas digne du groupe Accor. A mon départ, j'ai signalé à la réception que la chambre n'était pas propre mais cela n'a entrainé qu'une simple réaction d'étonnement de la personne présente. Depuis, je n'ai eu aucun retour par mail de la direction. Je pense que l'état des chambres doit être normal pour le directeur (ou la directrice) de cet établissement. La qualité du petit déjeuner évite le 1/5 mais ne permet pas de compenser les manquements.

In feite een oud motel, afgeleefd. Kleine motelkamers, oude inrichting, koude badkamer. Deuren waren versleten en tochtig. Het cafe en bar was volledig bezet door een trouwpartij, terwijl men diverse zalen ter beschikking had (het is een conventiecenter). We moesten met ons welkomdrankje in de lobby gaan zitten. Restaurant is gewoon en ontbijt is goed.
