Subject: Complaint Regarding Recent Stay at Sofitel Shanghai Hongqiao Dear Sofitel Shanghai Hongqiao Management Team, I am writing to express my disappointment with the experience during my recent stay at your hotel. Unfortunately, the level of service and room maintenance fell far below the standards I have come to expect from the Sofitel brand. During my stay: • There was no safe provided in the room. • Tea cups were not replaced or cleaned daily. • Bedsheets were not changed, even after several days. • The staff attitude was unhelpful and unprofessional, and overall service quality was very poor. These issues made my stay quite uncomfortable and left a very negative impression. I chose Sofitel because of its reputation for high standards in hospitality and guest care, but this experience was extremely disappointing. I hope you will take this feedback seriously and address these issues with your housekeeping and service teams. I would also appreciate an explanation and any gesture of goodwill for the inconvenience caused. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your prompt response. In addition to having a wonderful structure, its staff seeks to please us in a very good way. All very friendly and helpful. I would like to highlight Igor at the reception and Jenny at the Sofitel Club Millésime. Surely if I return to Shanghai, this will be my choice of hotel

It was my second really lovely stay at the Sofitel Hongqiao. I wanted to give a special shout-out to the staff—everyone I met was genuinely kind and really tried their best to be helpful. It felt like they were a well-coordinated team, bravo to the management for fostering such a warm and welcoming environment. And, the hotel itself is just gorgeous. Walking into that lobby is an experience—it’s so grand and beautiful. You can really see and feel the luxury vibe in all details, from the furniture to the fabrics. It was one of those trips where everything just comes together. The beautiful surroundings and the attentive people made my business trip actually feel… relaxing. I left feeling refreshed, which doesn't always happen! Would definitely stay again with pleasure!

Say my review does not match those I read here before booking. Whilst this is a beautiful property in a lovely (albeit quiet residential) location, it does not deserve to run under the Sofitel name (which I have always regarded highly). Pros - beautiful property, comfortable room. Whilst I expected the staff to have little understanding of English, whilst being incredibly sweet, their inability to perform the most basic of requests was incredibly frustrating. For example - to serve lunch to our party of 4 - at the same time would have been expected - each of our meals were served 15 minutes apart meaning that there was 45 minutes delay between the first and last meal being presented - excuse ? Too Busy (!!??) - there was one other table occupied in the huge restaurant. Or to make a gin and tonic - disaster. The shuttle bus advertised in reception didn’t run, room service unavailable, no assistance whatsoever with luggage leaving my elderly mother to drag in our bags from the taxi, the list is endless. Faulty towers minus the comedy of Basil. The list is long over the 4 nights we spent - deciding to check out 2 days early rather than endure the full 6 we booked and paid for. Sofitel really need to go and sort this place out (IMO). Commendations to the chamber maids and the 2 Polish ladies working both the bar and Milesime level. They are a credit to the hotel. Sadly cannot recommend.

We will focus on the staff service training, and improve the staff English which could give fully hotel services for the food serving speed and English skill and Concierge staff services. and we do appreciate with your loyalty to the Sofitel brand. And we will also focus on the staff attitude and service behaviors training and role play. To ensure all of staffs could provide luxury hotel services.
