Although, I never dreamt of the Maldives as my travel destination, I got invited by my cousin and realized it was actually a dream come true (even if it sounds weird). The food, constantly changing weather with constant air temperature and Maamutaa’s green landscape were jaw-dropping. Pullman is considered one of the top destinations with luxury villas, restaurants along with dense greenery. Many other luxury hotels in Maldives do not have views of dense forests. Service was very good. The pinnacle of my stay was my Discover Scuba Diving course, in which I dived 12 meters with an experienced trainer (for an extra charge).

I’ve been trying to get hold of the manger Nazira to explain what a bad experience I’ve been having and their best response is ignore, ignore, ignore. I’ve sent multiple emails, asked for a call back, and ignoring customers is their way of dealing with issues. I’ve been trying to get hold of her all day, and here are the excuses: 1- she’s on lunch 2- she’s on lunch still (2hrs after) 3- she’s on training 4- we can’t get hold of her 5- call back in 30 mins 6- hold on let’s find her (30 mins waiting) 7- hang up the phone Never love to turn into social media, but if you have issues with reservations, know that customer satisfaction is non existent.

We initially booked our stay at the Pullman Maldives a few months ago, in August, with high hopes and past positive experiences in mind. As a Platinum member and a returning customer (having previously stayed in 2024 and received an upgrade without any issues), I expected a similar level of service this time around. We had originally booked a beach villa that was upgradeable as part of a VIP booking, scheduled from the 25th of November until the 2nd of December. The idea was that the upgrade would be honored as it had been in the past. However, when we followed up regarding the upgrade and payment link, we were told there would be a mandatory New Year’s Eve gala dinner charge of over $2,000 if we stayed during that period. To avoid this, we changed our flights and booking dates to early December (from the 4th until the 15th). This change was not trivial: we incurred financial charges to alter our booking, had to adjust our leave from work, and even took our daughters out of school just to make this trip happen. We also communicated clearly that my wife has an extreme phobia of lizards, which made the beach villa unsuitable for us, and thus the upgrade to an overwater villa was not just a preference but a necessity. Despite these clear communications, the hotel staff repeatedly told us that the upgrade was now “subject to availability” and would not guarantee it. Even though I’m a Platinum member and a loyal returning guest, they have not honored the original agreement. Now, just days before our trip, they still refuse to confirm the upgrade, leaving us in a difficult position. To add to this frustration, the reservations team has been more than terrible. Just yesterday, I spent over 15 minutes on the phone explaining that I wanted a link to pay a 50% deposit and use my Accor Platinum points, with the remaining balance settled at the hotel. After all that explanation, they still sent an email insisting I must pay in full immediately or lose my reservation. It’s a disgusting display of prioritizing profit over guest satisfaction and loyalty, and frankly, this kind of behavior is both frustrating and unacceptable. I would urge other travelers to be wary of such practices.
