I'd like to give Laëtitia MASMONDET Assistant Front Office Manager MAMA SHELTER PARIS EAST a huge shout out for fantastic customer service. Her attention to our needs was impressive. Mama Shelter Paris East is a hidden gem in the 20th arrondissement and our go to spot. They are friendly and the pillows and bed are fantastic as jet lag kicks in. The breakfast in the morning is absolutely a highlight.

Stayed here for the second time, and it’s totally changed- really disappointing experience that was meant to be for a celebratory birthday weekend. Now feels like it’s style over substance and the focus is on the restaurant and bar at the weekend rather than the hotel. Long wait to check in and only one flustered staff member left to deal with a really long queue including people complaining. A really poor breakfast experience with no free tables, no plates, bowls and limited food. On the first day I had cereal out of a glass as there were no bowls and then was told there wasn’t a single spoon, as they were all in the dishwasher. It seemed really short staffed with staff who couldn’t keep up with the number of people at breakfast. I understand it sometimes get busy but the hotel should be able to run at capacity. I Recommend going to one of the local places instead for better value, and better coffee. Poorly stocked room- needs a kettle if you have to wait fifteen minutes for a coffee at breakfast. Hanging light broken and on the floor leading to a dimly lit space. Comfy bed though which was the one plus. The roof bar which was meant to be a highlight wasn’t great. No music, the furniture was very wet and the service was extremely slow considering we were only one of three tables there. Staff too busy chatting and on their phones to take our order, telling us to wait. The best thing about the stay was the area. Whilst a bit further away from the centre, lots of really nice cafes and bars near Gambetta and Alexandre Dumas- and great to see a different part of Paris.

Great hotel for a trip to Paris with friends. Staff were friendly and always available. Breakfast was the best I've ever had. Honestly, there was everything you could possibly want. The rooms were clean and as described with very comfortable beds. Restaurant and bar were very busy on Friday and Saturday night so getting served took its time. Tip, get a couple of drinks at a time. Despite the noise downstairs as soon as you leave that area to head up to the rooms you can't hear a thing. Would highly recommend this hotel.

Very sad breakfast experience

Many years already coming to mama shelter but this time was very disappointing. The once amazing breakfast was replaced by a very sad version: no eggs to boil, no orange juice machine anymore,… but worst of all: all tables were dirty and used, nobody was cleaning them. The breakfast was empty, people were waiting at every booth: No bread, no warm dishes, no coffee.. all was empty. No clean plates and bowl available as well. After asking a few times (the one person that was there behind the bar said: my colleague will bring it. Waiting another 10m and 10 (only) came and were placed next to the hot buffet (which was empty). This was at 10h. Everybody was complaining, people were waiting to have a table being cleaned. Terrible. This is not the service you accept. Sorry but it would have been better to eat outside.

We stayed here with family (Cooper family, 16-18 September) in September. We prepaid. The hotel wrongly charged us again on departure. I’ve been writing several times and have been completely ignored. We were served by Nawal. We have written to Miriam Arpinon, Zohra Atek, and the manager - as Nawal suggested. We have still not received the correct refund - as explained in our emails and even though we have sent evidence we are being ignored. We request a reply and some compensation please.
