ibis Styles Villeneuve sur Lot 3 gwiazdki

I had some kind of notion that Ibis equalled cheap , travellodge type accommodation. Turns out I was wrong. We booked in here after a long trying day , trying ( and failing ) to find an idyllic campsite on the banks of the Dordogne. First impressions were a bit weird. The hotel entrance was pretty much empty , furniture all stacked up and no one about . However , the delightful woman on reception could not have been more helpful or indeed , charming. We booked a double room for 90 euros ( £75 ) which included breakfast. Seemed a good deal . The room was immaculate. The sheets were crisp white and either very well ironed or indeed , brand new. We both had an excellent sleep. The bathroom was a wet room. Again, immaculate. A lovely hot shower , I even sat down ! Large white fluffy towels and lots of them. This has been a lovely surprise and we would definitely recommend if you , like us, are passing through and want a simple stopover. We are just about to go for breakfast. We are expecting something simple but may, yet again, be surprised !

Upon check in we were NOT ASKED for PASS SANITAIRE.At no point during stay did we have to présent it. At all times during our stay the bar, lounge were closed. Restaurant only open for breakfast. Staff member on duty and seemingly taking care of both reception and breakfast was surly. We found 5 dirt encrusted knives in the container for breakfast cutlery. When handed these, staff member snatched them without apology. No staff member on duty from 20.00h Friday evening till Saturday morning which we found unsettling should there be an emergency. Notice in elevator about there possibly being a lack of some weekend staff on day duty. Room usual size and condition but carpet could have done with a better vacuuming. We emailed to an address given on hotel website re our concerns. However, no reply. A very disappointing stay. Previously we had stayed at the delightful Ibis Styles in Vendres, and had not been expecting such a difference in quality.

This was a very welcome rest for the night. The hotel had secure parking and was easy to access. Unlike many, it was in a fairly open area, looking onto fields at the back. The staff were friendly and helpful, it was in easy reach of Villeneuve-sur-Lot for exploring the town. The rooms maybe a bit small for longer stays but are very clean and comfortable. We would certainly stay there again.

This hotel is fine if you just want to stay a night over. No pretentions, however understaffed and at night no accurate service. We felt very sorry for the guy that was running the show during daytime on his own. How can a company leave a hotel to just one person running around like crazy to be at the same time receptionist, bar tender, cleaner, bell boy… After all he managed. We felt so much sympathy for this great guy! At night no English speaking staff and a real hassle to get access to the safe parking facility and to the hotel entrance. The temperature of the airconditioning can only be set through a call to the reception. Not that convenient I must say. The room was clean and had the advantage of a separate shower (so no poor standing in the bath).

We stayed overnight at Ibis Styles Villeneuve sur Lot in July 2017. The hotel is on the outskirt of the city, close to a few chain restaurant and the main roads, making it an ideal overnight stop. Free parking with code for the night. The room was simply furnished with a comfortable bed and limited storage. The bathroom was larger than on a typical Ibis, which was a pleasant surprise. My only minor complaint was that the air conditioning was centrally controlled, and one had a choice between 19 or 20°C, and I wish I could have set a higher temperature. No noise from inside or outside. Breakfast is included, and is fine, with lots of sugary things for kids, although lacking in fresh options (fresh fruits). The staff was professional and helpful. Bonus point for the maids who were there friendly. Recommended for short stays.
