Nice hotel - unfriendly staff

This hotel is perfectly situated and the rooms are nice. The breakfast staff were ALL lovely especially Debdyuti and mipi. The problem and the reason for such a low marking is ALL the front of house staff ranged from unfriendly to rude. I don’t expect this in India or anywhere really. I dealt with 5-6 members of the front desk and all were unhelpful. Checking out and checking in was uncomfortable. And they were not busy in either case. Not a smile - “how was your stay?” Or even looking at us. Rude! I also think they need to rebrand their “high tea” as it has nothing to do with what most people think of as high tea - the day we went it was French fries - yes, only French fries!

Hospitality and courtesy are fundamental to our service philosophy, and it is disheartening to hear that you found our front‑of‑house team unfriendly and unhelpful. Your remarks have been taken very seriously, and the matter has been addressed with the team through additional training, coaching, and closer supervision to ensure that every guest receives the warmth and professionalism they deserve. A welcoming attitude is non‑negotiable, and we are committed to correcting this immediately. We also appreciate your feedback regarding our “Hi‑Tea” experience. We regret that it did not meet the traditional expectations of a high tea selection. Your comments have been shared with our food and beverage team, and we are reviewing the menu to ensure a more varied and authentic experience for our guests going forward. We sincerely hope you will consider giving us another opportunity to deliver the level of service and hospitality that Grand Mercure Mysore is known for. I see this hotel claims to be 5 star , no way on earth this is a 5 star hotel . 2 at best . Rooms , clean , bed comfortable . We had no towels on arrival and had to wait an age for them to be delivered , they could cut a second key for the room . No usb points . A window into the shower with a mouldy blind . Wall mounted shower , no rainwater shower here . Scuffed and marked furniture , wallpaper peeling off at seams . No milk . Food : very average had buffet two evenings on the spin , no lamb or goat , chicken is the main food , curries ok but always late with breads . Can’t charge to your room so pay by card or cash only . Tried the ala cart but everything we wanted was not available Gym: old tired machines , no clear floor space . Told reception that the treadmills were dangerous ( every time you speed up to run the machine will stop dead or slow down) , still operating a day later Bar : never any service there waiting always have to walk to the desk to call someone . 15 minute wait for someone to come and take an order .

However, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by the delay in providing towels upon arrival, the absence of a second room key, and the lack of in‑room amenities such as USB points and milk. Your observations regarding the condition of the shower blind, furniture, wallpaper, and shower fittings have been taken very seriously and shared with our engineering and housekeeping teams for corrective action. We regret that our dining experience fell short during your visit. Your feedback regarding limited buffet variety, delayed bread service, unavailable à la carte items, and the inability to post charges to the room is noted with concern and is being reviewed by our food and beverage leadership to improve consistency, availability, and service efficiency. Regarding the gym facilities, we are particularly concerned by your comments about the treadmills. Guest safety is of utmost importance to us, and this matter has been escalated for immediate inspection and rectification. We apologize that your feedback was not acted upon as promptly as it should have been. We also regret the delays you experienced at the bar. This is certainly not the service standard we aspire to, and additional supervision and staffing reviews are being undertaken to ensure more attentive service. While we understand your disappointment with the hotel’s star positioning, please be assured that we take such feedback very seriously and are committed to continuous improvement across our facilities and service delivery.
