Very good apart from check-in/reception. I used the online check-in facility, as suggested by the hotel by email. I followed this up with an email clarifying parking etc. When I checked in, confusion reigned supreme, as there were two bookings in the system. The following day, I received a call from the hotel where the caller started with, "You didn't check in yesterday." I replied that I had and gave my room number (513), adding that there appeared to be two bookings in the system. When I checked out, there was still confusion, as the double booking was still in the system. Some days later, I received an email confirming the payment for the second bookng, which still hadn't been fixed. I rang and sorted it out, but the probelm had not been fixed despite being reported on no fewer that three occasions. On the last phone call, the person I spoke to even had the audacity to blame Expedia, through which I had made the booking. Pathetic!

The staff were welcoming and easy to deal with I got to Mackay and the staff had me booked into a room which was nice and comfortable in 5 mins flat. The bar and kitchen staff were fast and efficient and I was surprised how good the food quality was, definitely will be staying again!

Accom was nice enough. When parking I asked the receptionist what to do with the ticket as I had parked out the front. She let me know my room key will get me out of the carpark. When leaving I was made to pay $35 for parking that was meant to be free and I was not told at time of check in where to park. I explained the situation to the lady in the car park but she was not very understanding. i will be leaving a 1 star review in the coming days if this complaint is handled poorly.

I stayed at the Ibis Mackay from Friday 21/8 - Sunday 23/8 and the majority of the experience was beyond poor. Our first real negative experience came on our first morning on Sat 22/8. The attitude of the supervisor F&B attendant who served myself on that morning was deplorable! My first interaction was her barging over, and in the most aggressive tone said, "what do you want!". The whole interaction was summarised of someone who was being forced to work on a Saturday and had no general manners whatsoever. The other staff member on that day, a young boy, who was her Junior, clearly showed a lot more customer service and quite frankly, deserved to be her supervisor. Our second snag happened when we came back from the cricket on Saturday to find that our room had not been serviced properly. I had placed the red card on the bed to indicate my sheets would like to be changed. However this did not happen and the only thing that was serviced in the room where the towels being changed. It was quite evident to myself that the housekeeper/s who did service the room, where to be honest just Lazy and focused on getting in and out, rather than doing the job properly the first time. I raised the room cleaning issue with Front Office and these further interactions with FO clearly demonstrated the poor nature of this hotel. I had made my way downstairs to raise this issue with FO, to which the response from the lady on PM 22/8 was "we will deal with this tomorrow". It was a complete and total fob off and rather couldn't care less about myself and rather wanted someone else to deal with the situation instead. Further to this I also requested that the 100 Reward Points be credited as if the room was registered to the "Skip the clean" program. This hasn't been done yet and remains to be seen if this will be done. Our final negative interaction came upon checking out of the hotel, to which I did what was instructed of me to "come back tomorrow" to which I raised the issue with the male on the desk. His response, which was indicative of the stay, instructed me that "the hotel would contact you in the next 24 hours". Another fob off, but at this point I expected it considering previous interactions. As I am writing this, I still haven't received correspondence from the hotel and are still waiting. Further to this, I also receive discounts with Accor through the F&B outlets. When I was checking out, I politely asked the gentleman on the desk, "Have all my discounts been applied", to which he didn't even cross reference with Opera Cloud, and told me "Yes they have". However once I received my tax invoice, I found that none of these discounts had been applied. A complete and total fabrication from the male on the front desk designed to fob me off (surprise, surprise). My stay wasn't all doom and gloom, and will give credit where credit is due. The bar staff on Sat night were great. Great attitude and were able to have a general conversation about easy things such as "how was your day?" or "how has your stay been?". Front Desk and AM F&B, take notes, it's that easy to leave a positive impact! And its not too hard either!! Overall poor experience, and left a stain on a great weekend coming back to my home town to watch Test Cricket stroll into town.

Upon arrival at 2:30 we were told our room was not ready and to come back in half an hour. We came back at 3pm and still it was not ready. We asked for a complimentary meal or something as check in was supposed to be at 2pm and we had been driving all morning. The lady started to talk to us in a condescending way like she really didn’t want to talk to us anymore. For the remainder of our 3 day stay the reception staff snickered at us when we walked past. I’ve never been treated so low before. On a plus side the chef is amazing and the food was to die for. The bar staff were also very good. Our room was clean. Not sure I liked the bedding as it was a sheet, a doona with with no cover and a sheet on top. Bit weird but it was comfortable enough and the room was clean. We noticed a charge on our account after check out, so we rang to find out what it was and they said it was a drink from the mini bar. I advised we didn’t touch the mini bar as we took all items out of fridge and put in cupboard during our stay and put all items back before leaving. They did refund it but still, it shouldn’t have been charged in the first place.
