The resort grounds are beautifully maintained. The hotel staff and the staff in the restaurant were all very nice especially the wait staff were 10/10. The buffet breakfast was great as well as the dinner we had there. Highly recommend Barret's Restaurant. The Lagoon pool is probably the best pool I have ever been in! Absolutely incredible! Lovely temperature and great heights in the pool. Although we were disappointed that the pool bar wasn't open (Last Friday of the summer school holidays) The view from the room was nice over looking the golf course. For staying in a 5 star hotel the room wasn't cleaned very well. There was a layer of mold in the bottom of the water for the espresso machine and the water glass container was dirty. The balcony was dirty and the glass had not been cleaned for a long while. The bed was comfortable but the pillows were horrendously lumpy! Overall the room was more like I would expect from a 3.5 star hotel. I was disappointed in the room . I must say we did not tell the staff our findings. We just made do and did not spend that much time in the room.

the first deluxe villa we were put in was awful, outdoor seating was completely rusted - actually, hazardous. The deluxe villa is only different to the standard villas by its “recent refurbishment” and this was clearly not new. We complained and were moved to a smaller but modern villa and given a $100 food/drink voucher, Lachlan was helpful with this and really responsive. Unfortunately it just kept going downhill, the wifi wasn’t working (though quickly fixed), the restaurant was closed, the steam room was shut, the indoor heated pool was cold and the lagoon pool due to be opened that day was still under construction. We brought our parents here from the U.K. as a treat, and I paid $1000 for the same experience I could have had in our hometown here for free. The resort essentially didn’t function as a resort and was a villa with a golf course and some small rock pools for kids. Savannah, a manager from another hotel covering staff at the Pullman couldn’t have been more helpful, really understood how upsetting this was given the circumstances and went above and beyond, despite not being able to do anything with the problems until the manager was in the next day. Two members of staff confirmed she would call me later that day - I left it 2 days before leaving this review - no call as of yet. Absolutely terrible experience all round, thankfully the staff were helpful but I wouldn’t recommend anyone to go here based on our experience, unless you’re a big fan of throwing money away, wasting your own time and enjoy disappointment.

Despite management's optimism (see response to previous reviews), the Lagoon Pool is still inoperable. Nevertheless we enjoyed the buffet breakfast and excellent service in Barretts restaurant. Unfortunately the same could not be said for the manager and staff in Shallows Bar where I ordered a beer, two gin & tonics and a mocktail. There were 4 female staff who were present, heard and took my order. The beer was poured immediately and the G&T’s arrived soon after. We patiently waited for the mocktail, but as we were halfway through our other drinks it was apparent other customers who arrived and ordered after us were receiving their cocktails. My wife then personally spoke to the manager about the missing mocktail, who said she would follow it up. However, when we had finished our other drinks nothing had been done about the mocktail and it had not been followed up, made nor served. I then went to the bar to find out what was going on and spoke to the manager again. Instead of taking personal responsibility she blamed her own staff as being in training despite her previously providing her own personal assurances. When I made it clear this was not acceptable, she then blamed me for not being patient and not accepting her help! Her exasperating attitude, which I believe no amount of re-education will rectify, was completely self-serving and devoid of customer focus. To add insult to injury, it appears that while I was speaking to the manager a male staff member made the mocktail and simply placed it on the bar counter. My family saw this and asked if this was our mocktail and if they could take it to which he replied: “Why not?” So in fact we were not even properly served the product we had paid for, which was full of ice with hardly any drink present in the glass! The golf villas are of a high standard but are not properly maintained. Having said that we still did enjoy the Central Coast, but this mainly due to the location.

We recently visited Magenta Shores Resort intending to do nothing but relax with a few cocktails at the lagoon pool for the weekend and play a round of Golf. Sadly, and more importantly, Unprofessionally, Pullman Magenta Shores Reservations omitted to tell us that the Lagoon Pool was at the moment a building site and far from completion. I did complain to management who were totally unsympathetic to our disappointment and reverted to the robotic apology they had been obviously taught to reply with. Absolutely no compassion, no sympathy and definitely no mention of a reduction in cost, not even a cocktail on the house!! Nothing. Very very poor customer service. My husband and son played Golf at the attached golf club. They enjoyed the golf but the course was extremely busy, too busy and were stopped waiting at each hole. If you have booked this largely tired, dated and extremely overpriced resort for your Christmas/summer break please be aware that there is no lagoon pool and what pools there are would not accommodate a quarter of the resort and are mainly aimed at the little ones, nothing for adults. Although there was only 4 of us (4 Adults) we rented a larger than required 3 Bedroom Villa (at an inflated price I might add) to enable us to visit, surprisingly nothing smaller and cheaper was available on their website, even though, when there we could see that the resort was far from full, another dubious tactic by an wholly unprofessional company. The villa was extremely tired, ill equipped in the kitchen, with no fly screens on windows/doors, no privacy nets in bedrooms. We were extremely disappointed and definitely will not be back. We will think twice about staying at ANY Pullman hotel or resort in the future. I would strongly advise anyone booked to stay here in the near future to check on the progress of the lagoon pool worksite and don't be as disappointed as we were, I can only imagine how difficult it would have been had we had small kids with us. I'd advise you to look elsewhere.

Unfortunately there can be delays with construction and this was the case for us and I am so sorry that this effected your stay. The Pullman Magenta Shores is located with a golf course on one side and a beach on the other. The beach is lovely but not patrolled so unsuitable for swimming. There are flagged beach options a short drive away. Service at checkin, checkout and at the restaurant was very good. The resort was transparent about the main pool being renovated on their website and when calling to confirm our reservation. It will be a lovely area when competed. The resort has many permanent residents and is mainly 1,2 and 3 bedroom villas. We were there for a function and there were only 2 of us so we stayed in a studio room. The resort and room were clean and well maintained. We asked for a quiet room and it was - excellent sleep. The room was located in a townhouse like building with a common entrance, one room downstairs and two upstairs. It appeared the downstairs room had cooking facilities as there were some interesting smells on entry. Our room also had a slightly unpleasant smell, again only noticeable on entry - air freshener would have been appreciated. We stayed for 2 nights and for the Saturday paid what was a very steep price for what was effectively a large hotel room. On that basis, servicing or at least a fresh towel delivery would have been appreciated. I support protecting the environment and I can understand why the villas with washing machines and dryers do not receive housekeeping but we had no options to dry wet towels except a rain impacted balcony. The internet was sketchy and only worked on the first evening. There was a basic buffet breakfast included in the cost of our room. Overall it was a pleasant stay for a couple of nights.
