My experience at the Bunker Bay resort was very enjoyable. When we checked in there was a bit of a wait, the phones weren't working and the pool wasn't filled yet. When we got to our room we were ready to go to the pool, it was big and deep with chairs to relax on and a bar to grab food and drinks. After the pool we went for a walk to see the view of the beach, it was beautiful. The next morning we woke up and went to have buffet breakfast it was delicious, after we headed to play tennis it was really fun. Then we went to the pool for a couple of hours, finally ending our day with a relaxing dinner it was so yummy yet over priced. The following morning we were ready to leave and check out but first we went to have our buffet breakfast, a swim in the pool and then went back to the room finding the power had gone out lasting hours upon hours but it was no biggie for us we had the right thing to entertain us. Before we checked out we went for another walk down to the beach and saw a lovely pod of dolphins then checked out and was ready to head home. I give this resort a 3 star review and recommend to come and stay here.

A Disappointing Experience Our stay at Pullman Bunker Bay was, unfortunately, the biggest letdown of our trip to Western Australia. Despite high expectations given the premium pricing, the experience fell short in multiple areas, from check-in to dining and spa services. Check-In Issues & Room Setup The check-in process was frustratingly slow and disorganized. Despite booking for two adults and one child, the sofa bed was not made up upon arrival, forcing us to request housekeeping to do something that should have been prepared in advance. Not the best start to our stay. Dining at Other Side of the Moon – Overpriced & Poor Quality Dining at Other Side of the Moon was a major disappointment. The food was overpriced and lacked quality. The butter chicken was, without exaggeration, the worst we’ve had in 20 years—bland, uninspired, and lacking authenticity. The $69 steak, ordered medium, was well done in several areas, showing a lack of care in preparation. For the prices charged, we expected far better. Spa Booking Debacle Our experience with the spa was by far the worst aspect of our stay. Despite booking a spa package, we found out there were no spaces reserved for guests on a package, meaning we had to scramble to secure a slot. We had to call internationally at our own expense to get a booking due to a last-minute cancellation. Then, our second booking was scheduled after our check-out time, and despite requesting a late checkout of just a couple of hours, the hotel flatly refused. To make matters worse, when we tried to modify our booking, the reception staff misinformed us, stating we couldn’t swap a treatment for products. However, when we checked directly with the spa, they said it was “no problem.” On top of that, we were shortchanged—canceling a $175 massage only gave us $116 in credit. If the hotel cannot properly accommodate spa guests, it should not be selling spa packages at all. Poor Service & Low Staff Morale Throughout our stay, it was evident that staff morale was low. Several employees seemed unmotivated, and service was indifferent. A prime example was at the pool bar, where I ordered two glasses of champagne and a cider, only to be told they were “sold out.” While this may have been true for the poolside stock, the main bar was a mere 50 feet away, yet no effort was made to check or accommodate us. Final Thoughts Of the five places we stayed during our trip to WA, Pullman Bunker Bay was by far the most expensive and, unfortunately, the most disappointing. Poor service, overpriced and underwhelming dining, and a complete lack of consideration for guest experience—especially regarding spa bookings—made this a regrettable stay. We expected a luxury experience but left feeling frustrated and let down. Would not recommend.

Overpriced and underwhelming

This was my 3rd stay at this resort. I stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment which was well appointed but it was dark and the outdoor area was unappealing. We paid a premium for a package including breakfast, 2 drinks each and one dinner. The dinner choices were limited as were the drink choices, despite a big premium price. The food was palatable but not good enough for a 5 star resort. We were forced to accept a 5.45 booking as the restaurant was fully booked until 8.30 but when we were there there were hardly any other diners in the restaurant until 8.30pm. Breakfast was good. I felt ripped off and would not go back.

We stayed 3 nights in the resort which is set in a beautiful location with a great beach. We were in a lagoon/lake view room which was spacious and bright with a large living space and coffee machine, tea making facilities, large bedroom and a huge ensuite which featured separate bath and shower. The room was slightly dated and could do with minor updating but was very clean. (little run down in parts fly screen door was gaffer taped). Service staff were mostly Fijian and very friendly and helpful but all staff were excellent. Breakfast buffet options were extensive and some a la carte choices. Dined at the restaurant just once as fully booked so book before your arrival but the room service was great. Food excellent but don't be in a hurry. The resort was a great base for exploring all the local landmarks.
