Summary: Novotel BH provides a comfortable stay, with an excellent on site restaurant, but some service quality issues with the front desk staff take the shine off the experience. The good: Room: room is large compared to other Novotel I have stayed at recently. Big, comfortable bed and a large, hot, high-pressure shower. Excellent black out curtains and in room AC. Nice views of the city as well and surrounding hills. I got to enjoy a spectacular lightning storm on my last night. Restaurant: the on site restaurant is excellent, so much so I left a seperate review for that. Sebastiao and the restaurant team are fantastic and so was the food. Housekeeping: thank you to the team for their excellent service each day. Including leaving me a nice note when they heard my guest was unwell the night before and provided new towels and sheets on request without any issues. The bad: Accor status recognition: there was no recognition of my gold status on check-in and the welcome gift was a strange keychain/bottle opener; rather than the standard water or food item that I would have much preferred. A welcome note was left in the room, but in Portuguese. Front desk: check-in was a rough experience. When I arrived there were four staff, none who were serving customers and they all nudged each other while giggling to gesture for someone else to serve me. This property does share an entrance with the adjacent Ibis Budget - from this experience I thought I may have entered the wrong hotel. There is extremely limited English spoken by the front desk staff as well, my check in was conducted via grunts and nods. Keycard: thankfully not as bad as my recent experience at the Novotel in Rio, but my keycard stopped working twice during my three night stay - forcing me to waste time going to the front desk. Conclusion: with some retraining and enhancements to the service provided by the front desk, this hotel could easily become a four star rating. Right now, it’s just average in my opinion.

Was at the hotel on business and had important business in the morning - tried to get room service nobody spoke English tried to get assistance from the front reception for over an hour and nobody answered the phone

Globally it’s a good hotel. Can they made many mistakes that it is not acceptable for a 4**** hotel: - few employees can speak English, the rest can just speak Brazilian - the lift is never available (mainly the one in the right hand) - I arrived at the hotel with 4 big luggages and no one asked me to help me or even suggest me to use a trolly until my bedroom - at the checkout, the receptionist hold me for at least 20 min, he was asking me to prove that I already paid. I was like 😳. For the rest: - the breakfast was great - the restaurant is good - the bartenders are great

Accommodating and Friendly Hotel Staff

We were first greeted by an English speaking host that gave us a warm welcome. We had a large party and the staff was very nice and accommodating to us after 24 hours of traveling. They surprised us by including a children's tent in our room, which my 4 yo loved so much! Not to mention the 1-story slide in the entrance that kept her super busy. The breakfast was wonderful with a variety of traditional items from the region. Great start to each day we were in Belo. We would definitely come back and stay at this hotel again.

My Boyfriend and I stayed at the Novotel Savassi only 2 nights but we were impressed right from the moment we Checked In. The guy who checked us in had a very difficult name, I believe its Juavis, he was very professional and service oriented, made us feel welcome and gave a wonderful first impression to the hotel. The room had an amazing view over the city and the interior was well decorated, clean, quiet and comfortable. Especially the bathroom with dried flowers as decoration and very good Body Lotion and Shampoo was great. The food in the restaurant was delicious and the staff very attentive. Breakfast was the highlight every morning. There is a big buffet using regional products and even champagne.
