Fabulous staff Made me so welcome as solo woman ! Breakfast was delicious even had haggis Selection of teas coffee n lots of different juices only £12 Truely a great stay I’ll be coming back next month for longer Thanks to all the lovely staff Well done excellent

Disappointed, dated, filthy

Arrived July 2025, upon approaching the building it looked generally tired. Parked in a the small carpark to the rear and entered a dark, dismal, tired and dated reception. However, our lady receptionist made up for it with enthusiasm, a professional and friendly greeting. Was rather shocked to find out we had to pay £7pn parking for the privilege of being a guest. Check in was 3pm, we arrived 3:10pm to be advised the room isn’t ready and to wait in the bar. Not the end of the world but a free beverage for inconvenience might of been nice. Looking around the bar the furniture and carpets were worn, dirty and very dated. The staff uninterested and rather unfriendly in general inc restaurant staff. Got to the room an hour later to find an incredible view over the ocean and Ayr through absolutely filthy windows covered in seagull poo. The room was no better, loose fittings and furnishings, dated, filthy carpets (thank god for flip flops) and a dark dismal bathroom. However the shower pressure was great. We booked a two night stay but the room never saw housekeeping. So we made our own beds, no refresh of towels or tea and coffee facilities. As it was summer and 28c the room was hot and stuffy no fans, no aircon couldn’t sleep. The beds were hard (appreciate that’s subjective) but the pillows wafer thin and hard, the bed linen were cheap scratchy cotton. Breakfast was ok, £24 for two, but one of us only had cereal, pastry and coffee so worked out expensive. Maybe a price for continental and full so your not over paying. Didn’t eat in the hotel in the evening as the restaurant staff were there in body but not in mind and rather dismissive of you plus the room is uninviting. Plenty of choice outside the hotel. Would I book here again. Absolutely not. I wouldn’t touch a Mercure hotel again. Take my advise and book a private local B&B. Or air B&B Wish we had of done. If Mercure read this, promote your lovely lady receptionist to training management and invest in the building. If nothing else, give the damn carpets and furniture a deep clean.

Dit hotel is absoluut niet Mercure waardig. Het is zo verouderd, en als je zelfs de verwarming op je kamer niet kunt uitzetten en dus het raam maar open moet zetten voor frisse lucht (en de verwarming dus aan blijft staan) is toch enorm jammer. Tevens enorm verouderde kamers maar het ergste was het ontbijt. Ik heb nog nooit zoeen karig sn slecht ontbijtbuffet meegemaakt, er lag bijna niks en wat er lag was niet eens vers...

Dear Guest Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry your stay was not up to your expectations. I am at a loss as to why you could not adjust your heating. Each radiator has a thermostat control on the bottom right hand side giving you setting options from off to full. We are currently undertaking a refurbishment of our bedrooms. and have just started the final floor. I suspect you may have been in one of the rooms still to be done. vanaf de entree is het een rommelige en vieze bende. personeel vaak niet te vinden en het ontbijt is uiterst gering en heeft geen kwaliteit. parkeren staat niet aangegeven en is rommelig en vol. ook aan de buitenzijde schreeuwt het pand om onderhoud.
