The Mercur is in a great location but that's its only positive in my opinion, also the reception foyer is tasteful, however with a very small reception. The hotel is papering over cracks and one can tell that it is in need of generous modernisation and updating. The staff however are friendly and eager to help.

This hotel is great, the staff are amazing, especially Barry and Jacob on reception who are so welcoming and helpful,all the staff are lovely. The room was a clean and tidy, the breakfast is very good to, great hotel as very central to everything, would definitely stay here again x

It really doesn't look like the photos, inside the entrance lobby and breakfast room carpet looks dirty and worn, the communal areas just look grubby. Our seaview room for the weekend was expensive, took the duvet cover off as too hot and the actual duvet although smelling clean was stained. En suite toilet was not clean, previous occupant 'splashes' under the seat. Asked housekeeping for another duvet and were supplied with another as equally stained. The air conditioning unit is right above the bed and drips cold water onto the pillows. Really wish we had gone to the Grand for the money we spent.

Absolutely shocking customer service on the telephone. My husband booked us both a room, I called to double check something and was met with an extremely rude woman on the phone that refused to even confirm that the room was definitely the upgraded junior suite, I kept getting told a load of rubbish about data protection, I’m his wife, I’m the other person staying in the room, my husband is autistic and won’t use the phone. Not a good start to a holiday… now my husband is in a state because of her rudeness and total disregard for his disability and does not want to come anywhere near the place, who wants to stay at a hotel where they have no idea how to treat paying customers. Disgraceful way to treat anyone and in particular someone with autism that can’t use the phone and just needed to check things so he could prepare himself to come. Training definitely needed for this awful woman

We stayed here over an August weekend. The hotel is very welcoming and the staff were really kind. It has easy onsite parking, it does charge however you do get discount if you’re a member of the hotel group. The room was absolutely spotless and was a great size for 2 adults and a child. I like that the hotel gives you the option as to whether or not to have the housekeeping - to help environmentally - even though we ran out of a couple of things like milk and toilet rolls a visit to the reception meant we could get more. I absolutely would recommend this hotel for its location right on the seafront, ease of parking and safety! The only thing to note is the bar onsite is cashless. Thankyou so much for a wonderful stay!
