We just had a short overnight stay here at this hotel while in Jinan on a private tour. Room was clean and comfortable and the location seemed to be convenient in the city. Breakfast was good although a little crowded. Good hotel to spend the night.

as a repeater they gave me a warm welcome - First of all I was happy to have english speaking staff at reception, restaurants and services, Le Chinois Restaurant with Chef Bruce served very best fine chinese cuisine and the breakfast and lunch buffetts were excellent, from french specialities to international varieties. For our business best location in Jinan. On the way to Qufu Confucius city best location but not in city center. Oasis served best german Weissbier and drinks. Thanks to the friendly and helpful staff who helped us as non chinese speaking best way. We will book again.

Check in process was quick and efficient. The staff who checked me in was really nice and very funny guy. The room itself is a little dark as they are not enough lighting I believe but overall it was a very comfortable room. The room size is good, the bed is comfortable, the AC is cool and the shower pressure is also good. The only down side is that they dont have much English channel. Housekeeping staff was also very helpful and nice. She even remembered by special request every day when she make up my room (I requested for extra coffee and soap on the first day and she did it again without me asking on the second day). Room service was also served in a timely manner and the food taste good, or at least way much better in hotel in general. Breakfast in this hotel was a total mess. No one will help you to get a table, you need to look for a table yourself and for a solo traveler, sometimes when you already sat on a table and leave to get something to eat, there will be another Chinese guest sitting on your table. I mean, where is the hotel staff? Aren't they supposed to help to tell the other guests that the seat is taken? The selection itself is also decent. They have a very limited western selection. Concierge staff were all very nice and helpful. I can see they genuinely tried their best to communicate in English with their limited English vocab. I really appreciate their effort. Location wise, this hotel is located not in the center of Jinan but on a quiet residential area. There are also 2 shopping malls within walking distance from the hotel where you can find both Western and Chinese cuisine. Overall this is a very recommended hotel. Really worth the money spent.

At first sight ,the hotel was looked old from outside. My host company booked this hotel for me for 2-3 days business meeting. Location was not in the city center,not recommend for sight-seeing traveler. Room inside also looked old , especially the bathroom. Bed and pillow were good enough for overnight staying. The room sound proof was not good , the noise from room beside can be heard. Check-in can be done early morning with some waiting. The TV is in analog era , need to be modernized. The international well-known channels were included. I asked the front officer to call the taxi to some attraction point in the city, The private taxi has been call instead of public taxi in a very short time. The front told me that in rush hour the public taxi was busy. I accepted such private taxi with agreed 40 RMB fare in front of the front officer but when arriving the driver required 50 RMB fare. The hotel should control such drivers who waiting the passenger at the hotel entrance. (normal fare by public taxi is around 20 RMB) This is one of the hotel good view. The breakfast and dinner buffet were not bad , ACCOR PLUS card benefit is applicable. In general , not so good impression with this hotel.

Overall, we were quite satisfied with our stay at the Grand Mercure Jinan Sunshine. Loyalty recognition (gold-level) was OK. We received our complimentary room upgrade at check-in (one category), though I had to confirm with the guest service agent that we had received it, as it was never expressly stated during the check-in process. Welcome drink vouchers were not given, until we asked for them. We were upgraded to a Junior Suite on the 20th floor, however there was construction on the 22nd floor, so partway through our stay, we asked for a room move, which was granted. We received an unexpected upgrade to an Executive Suite. THE ROOMS The rooms are quite good and roomy. The beds are very comfortable with both feather and memory foam pillows. The hotel is celebrating its 7-year anniversary, and I think that the rooms have not yet been refurbished, as they are starting to show their age. The headboard in the Junior Suite was peeling, the paint in the showers were peeling. The shower drains in both rooms got a really bad "drain" smell following showering, which was quite unpleasant. The rooms have a large working desk, which was great (you can sit two people at it quite comfortably). The Junior Suite has a TV in the middle of the room that swivels, so you can watch it from either the sofa or the bed, which is fantastic and convenient. As a result, it had easy access to the HDMI and USB ports. In the Executive Suite, the TVs are fixed to the wall, and inside a little cubby so it is impossible to access these ports, which was disappointing. Soundproofing of the rooms leaves a lot to be desired, especially from the hallway. You can hear anything and everything from inside the room. Though the Executive Suite has two bathrooms, hand towels were not placed in the smaller bathroom, which was a bit odd. FOOD: Food in the Oasis restaurant was good, without being stand out. The tenderloin was cooked very well, though the sauce was a bit "watery". The curry, though delicious, had chicken that was quite dry. The burger and club sandwich for room service were very good, and a very reasonable price. We did not have breakfast at the hotel during this trip. OTHER Late-checkout of 2pm was granted. We asked for 3pm, but the guest service agent said it would be a "half day fee", and when we said we were gold members (complimentary late check-out, if available), we were told this fee would stand if we wanted to stay until 3pm. LOCATION This hotel is not located in the city centre, which is both a good and bad thing. It is a bit of a quieter neighbourhood, though there is construction happening opposite to the hotel. There is a shopping mall adjacent to the hotel, which has a supermarket in it and well as other restaurants and a cinema. The Japanese restaurant is especially good! There is a larger shopping mall about 1.5km away, which has a Haidilao hotpot, 1836(?) Cantonese, Korean BBQ and other excellent restaurants.
