I stayed at the Mercure Bloomsbury for almost two weeks in July 2024 -- I'd stayed there a couple of times in recent years and I will certainly book there again the next time I'm in the area. First and foremost: the people at the front desk are simply wonderful -- friendly and eager to help. But I want to single out Tanya: I had a tricky billing situation (too complicated to explain here, not Mercure's fault) -- she went out of her way to look into it, supported by her manager, and the situation was resolved which saved me a very large amount of money. THANK YOU so much Tanya and everyone else! I don't understand the negative reviews you can find here as they do not reflect any of my experiences: my room was clean and fresh and quiet. OK it was not large: this is central London, so pay a lot more somewhere else if you want more space. Air con is a huge plus (didn't need it this trip as the weather was usual British dismal but I've stayed there in previous summers when it was actually very hot). Convenient to everything I needed to access (I was working mostly at the British Library, 20 minutes walk away) and great choice of restaurants all around. Again, THANK YOU all and I can't recommend this hotel and its staff highly enough.

I stayed 6 nights at the Mercure Bloomsbury and especially loved the buffet breakfast with wonderful croissants and coffee. I also enjoyed my renovated "small double" room, which was very clean and quiet, and the hotel's excellent location mere minutes to the British Museum and the Russell Hill tube station, not to mention the University and several pleasant parks. The hotel staff, especially at the front desk and in the breakfast room, were very courteous and helpful. The bar was great for a light dinner and a glass of wine. Not all of the rooms have been renovated, so it would be good to check.

Would just like to say thank you to Greg for making our stay pleasant under extreme circumstances, it hasn't put us off coming to stay again. All the staff we encountered were really friendly and did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable.

Ive not stated in this area before (staying for a work trip) Just round the corner from the tube station, shop/eating places. Room was clean & tidy & I was thankful for the aircon the day I stayed. The only thing I would feedback to make a change & save the chain money was the cookie left in the room. It was uncovered, not knowing how long this has been there, who touched it etc - this wasnt something I was going to eat.

Shabby, tiny room. Filthy net curtains. Dodgy electrics burning my hand on a plug when removing it from a socket. Tiny bathroom and you can’t even sit straight on the loo. Ditto the shower - I’m average height and build but couldn’t stand facing the shower. No water provided despite my booking email telling me there was. Towel rail broken and electrical fitting loose. Floor slippery: no bath mat: No disability access. NO FRIDGE IN ROOM - had to beg for an ice bucket to keep milk cool: milk provided in sachets left exposed to sunlight and curdled. Some of the reception staff very rude: only good thing were the staff in the breakfast room. Overall very poor, not worth the money, AVOID!
