I'd like my review to be directed to the General Manager Mr. Mohamed Hawwam please, as he should be aware of the incredible team the hotel has. Well before arriving, I made an enquiry about my particular dietary issues (there are many) and if purchasing a Half Board package would be suitable - I received a reply from Guest Experience Manager Lusine, who spoke to the catering team to make sure I would be taken care of. Lusine was amazing. On check in I was greeted by Lamiaa who was simply incredible, nothing was too much trouble and no question too annoying, I am so thankful to her for caring for me - when she noticed how jetlagged I was and made my check-in as quick and smooth as possible. Over the next four days she was so helpful and was always ready with local knowledge, assistance when I needed it and helping to find my way around. She is incredibly kind and empathetic and an absolute credit to your Hotel. Thank you Lamiaa, I really appreciate all you did for me, your kindness has really been the most special thing about my stay at the hotel! The Chef's and their teams in L'Apera and Wakame really looked after me, I could not have been more accommodated and felt very safe! A big thank you to Sylvia, May and Arman for great conversation, drinks and wonderful dinners. All of your team went out of their way to assist me, each and every one of them were caring and kind. I also treated myself to a massage in the spa; my therapist Alma was highly experienced and very skilled in relieving the pressure pain of my sciatic nerve caused by a chronic back injury - not every Therapist can do this - and she was brilliant. Your team really went out of their way to make my 60th Birthday trip something particularly special for me, Dubai was the last stop for me in a 6 week trip (though my 4th time in Dubai) and I am so glad I chose the Sofitel. I stayed at the Sofitel Downtown Dubai and overall had a good experience. The first room I was assigned was next to the road and quite noisy. However, after I requested a change, the staff quickly accommodated me and moved me to a room on the other side, which was much more peaceful. Their responsiveness and willingness to ensure my comfort were greatly appreciated. The hotel itself is well-maintained, with elegant decor and a great location close to Dubai’s main attractions. Despite the initial hiccup, I enjoyed my stay and would consider returning.

Once a place to stay turned disaster this time around. Right from the check-in we started off on a wrong foot. After a long flight you want to go to your room and relax but key wasn’t working so had to go down again to recharge it. As soon as we entered the suite there was a pungent smell of wet carpet, icing on the top was humiliation I received when I invited my guests over. The whole staff was after their ID’s despite they were already given when the came up, there were repeated calls and visit by reception staff making me feel like a fugitive. It was very embarrassing in front of my friends. Despite being a diamond member of Accor if I am treated like then I feel sorry for people who don’t have this privilege. I would avoid staying here next time

Kind staff, not so kind manager

The night we arrived the manager on duty was rude and even locked us out of our room. Luckily another manager helped us and appologized for the misunderstanding. Wifi can be slow sometimes. On positive note: the hotel has great breakfast, a nice pool and is on walk distance from the Dubai mall and metro station. The life guards from the pool, our room attendant Adnan, and Joshua from roomservice were super friendly and very helpful. This gave a very warm and welcoming feeling - especially after the not so welcoming start
