The hotel is clean, the staff are very friendly and helpful particularly Lulu who used to clean our room. Very easy to get public transport (bus) and the food nearby are very tasty, particularly stall in Zhong San Mall. Which just across the street, there is also a stall which sell very delicious Pia, must try. Very recommended hotel.

A great mid-range hotel! The Ibis is well located within walking distance of Novena MRT and a shopping centre with plenty of f&b options. There is also a bus stop across the road. The property is well maintained and the rooms are very clean. There is a token operated laundry. A buffet breakfast and lunch are available at the restaurant. ( we didn’t eat there so can’t comment ). Overall, a good value option in Singapore.

Cockroach problem

We saw cockroaches in the bathroom every day of our 5 day stay unfortunately. I also had an inkling from the first day there was a cockroach issue as the drainholes in the shower cubicle stunk, and this was a sign of cockroaches. We lived on the 10th floor, the highest floor in the building, and still had a cockroach issue. Normally you'd expect just the lower levels of a building in Singapore to have it, but for the 10th floor to have this shows there is a cockroach issue the hotel failed to control. I did tell the reception about this on the 2nd morning of our stay, and they sent room service to try and rectify this, but that didn't work obviously. I also had housekeeper clean our room daily, and it was obvious they did as sheets were changed and bathroom towels were refreshed etc but still the cockroaches appeared. Cockroaches were the small type, thankfully, not the large ones common in Singaporean homes, but I'd expect a 3 star and up hotel to keep in control of a cockroach problem, and clearly this hotel struggles to do so. Next time I'd definitely stay at a 4 star hotel and hopefully then we won't see any cockroaches. It's really off-putting considering we were paying over £100 a night to stay here. We also had to keep all our luggages locked or zipped up fully all the time to prevent cockroaches from getting into them and then unwittingly being transported back to our house in the UK and infesting our house... In the UK, we have never encountered cockroaches in our home, and we want to keep it this way. Cockroaches can and do infest UK properties (they hide in warm homes indoors). I spent many of my childhood years growing up in Singapore so I know the large cockroaches are endemic in Singaporean homes and it is impossible to avoid seeing at least one every now and then, but I would expect a good decent hotel to keep on top of the issue, which clearly Ibis Novena couldn't do. I would have expected any 2 star hotel or hostel in Singapore to have a cockroach issue, yes... but I didn't expect this of Ibis Novena.

When we came to shower, there was no shower wash left in the bathroom. We rang reception who said they will arrange for the shower wash supply to be filled up. This did not happen as when I took a shower the next morning, there was still no shower wash.

Located just off Balestier Road in the central area of Singapore, this property is close to Zhangshan mall & a lot of eateries as well. Water dispensers on every floor as part of the initiative to eliminate plastic and go green. The laundry room with washing & drying facilities was extremely useful. The staff was remarkably helpful & courteous.
