The hotel is fine, but the day was about 27 degrees celsium, and they didn´t allow to turn on the Air Conditioning! We had to sleep with the window opened and with outside noise! I really don´t understand that policy!

A short walk from Bordeaux St Jean station and with a tram stop a few metres away. Very friendly and helpful staff. A pleasant restaurant with out door tables and good food. An extensive range of food for breakfast.

A bit renovated room, but dirty. Caridors are old and not maintained

The room seem to be renovated recently, but still was dirty and we've found someone else's hair in multiple places. The caridors or other areas of the hotel are old and not maintained. For example, someone else let's a few glasses outside of their room's door. We've spotted them in mid-day, and they were left there until the morning.

This is a nice hotel with excellent links via the tramway into the centre of Bordeaux. It is also within walking distance so would suit most people. Staff were friendly and helpful and the Deluxe room was a good size and nice and clean. Would happily recommend it.

Close to Saint Jean railway station, but not NEXT to it. Count on a 5-minute walk to reach it. On the other hand, the hotel is situated in a quite area. Staff is attentive and helpful. The rooms are spacious but need renovation.

The hotel is just outside the city centre, which makes its significantly quieter than some of the hotels closer to the old town. The hotel is an easy tram ride or walk from the Bordeaux St. jean train station or into the city centre, The tram only costs 1.50 Euro and runs every couple of minutes so you never need to wait for long. There is plenty of space if you have big bags. We stayed in a terrace room which was well appointed and spacious. The terrace overlooked an inner courtyard of some trees and a vegetable garden, The terrace was a lovely place to sit and relax. The only downside was people could smoke on the terrace. As non-smokers this was a significant detraction of our ability to use and enjoy the space or have fresh air come in from the door. Although we know smoking laws a much more relaxed in Europe than Australia it really does detract from the enjoyment of the space. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable and the room was very quiet. We went outside of tourist season and although the hotel appeared to be more suited for French business travelers, we found the staff to be very friendly and welcoming, which was very pleasing, We would recommend the hotel to anyone who wants to have easy access to the train station and the city center and those who enjoy a comfortable bead and sleep.

Plus: the location is good along the tramway and 500 meters from the railway station, the hotel is clean and the decoration is elegant Minus: stairs at the entrance and the elevator is out of service, no AC in the lobby, and the worst is that the restaurant of the hotel is closed on weekend days!

My stay there was good but noise from other rooms was unbelievable !!! You could hear them knocking on doors or closing those doors strongly !!! Sometimes you can hear them talking ... it locates close to the trains stations ( about 500 meters ) which is good ...

Three night stay, in comfortable room at the back of the hotel, very quiet. All the staff we encountered were friendly, helpful and professional. Splendid choice for breakfast - all excellent except for the bacon, which was terrible. Disappointed this time to find no fridge in the room, and the hospitality tray in the room was still pathetic - cardboard cups, one miserable milk portion, instant coffee, wooden stirrer - creates a really mean impression. Great pity. (I say this each time we stay, but it makes no difference)

No glove in batheroom. Small TV. No toilet bowl brush. The supposed king size bed was actualy two very bad quality mattresses which is totally unacceptable when you have paid a supplement for a so called "high quality bedding".

This hotel is wonderfully located with close proximity to the great tram system, and it also has basement parking facilities that are relatively secure. Upon entering the hotel I was struck by the distinctive aroma of new furnishings and carpets and paint! Three immaculately dressed female reception staff were seated behind the counter, and I was attended by one whose English was excellent. Having checked in on line, everything was prepared and I was given the key card and directions on how to reach the room. The room was a pleasant surprise; upon entering it was obvious that air conditioning was installed - and working! This was especially welcome on this day of searing heat and temperatures of around 36 degrees! The bed was huge and the room generally was spacious. Again, the smell of newness. I may be wrong, but this hotel has been refurbished recently. The structure/fabric of the hotel I cannot fault. Now the 'down' side. That evening in the bar area, there was no service at the bar, although eventually a member of staff came forward and took my order. This was not the most pleasing of transactions as the lady in question appeared not to be well versed in the art of customer service. Or maybe it was the heat at the end of a long day. Incidentally, it is not a good idea to leave the cleaning fluid bottle on display on the serving area. The same lady was encountered at breakfast the next morning. Again, the lack of a smile; no welcome - no nothing. Tables were not cleared quickly. Those that had been cleared were not re-laid. Once again, a cleaning fluid bottle was left on display on a table in the restaurant area. This lady and her male colleague gave the overall impression of not enjoying their work. That evening I had a similar experience at the bar, except this time, I gave up waiting and went to my room. Over five days the evening bar experience was the same, except that the last two nights of my stay I decided to approach reception and ask for service. Frankly I don't expect to have to do that in an hotel such as the Mercure. My final morning at breakfast demonstrated that my expectations are not too high, for on this morning the young lady on duty was excellent at her job. Immediately clearing tables; checking that the buffet was kept well supplied; speaking with guests; and actually smiling. She moved with confidence and purpose and generally created a great impression. Well done to her! I will stay there again in spite of this.

On arrival was advised that here was no Resturant facilities available in the evening for the whole weekend, this was not advised at time of booking. When allocated room also advised that there was not Air conditioning available at all. At this point advised reception that I would try to obtain alternative accommodation was advised as I had pre paid I would have to submit substantial claim to achieve refund. On our second evening we returned to the hotel to find that there was only one person available for Reception, Parking, Bar duties and Room Service this obviously created a slow service standard the young lady on duty was run off her feet and advised that this was the first time she had been on this shift.

Our room was modern and comfortable, quite spacious for a city hotel. It was also quiet, being at the back of the hotel. I imagine rooms on the front could be noisy since the trams pass the door. Our only problem was that the heating/air conditioning did not work. They gave us a portable oil-filled radiator. Nice to have small bottle of water each day, but the courtesy tray is unnecessarily mean - paper cups, wooden stirrers, one milk portion per day (for two people), biscuits random - a lost opportunity to make us feel welcome. All the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent - a buffet with a wide choice and good ingredients. Quite expensive, so best to find an inclusive deal as we did. Appreciated the self-service coffee machines. Hard to spread butter and jam with a pointed steak knife. Like many hotels, cold plates for hot food. We had a car, so the garage beneath the hotel was a great advantage, but quite expensive at £12 per day

This is a good hotel if you want to be close to the Gare Saint Jean in Bordeaux. You can easily walk to it. The hotel rooms are spacious with all modern cons. and service is good. WiFi works well. It is also a convenient place to get a taxi to and from. This can be difficult in Bordeaux.

Friendly, fast check in. Very convenient to reach from the Central Station, in walking distance, even with a bigger suitcase. Tram (cheap fares - EUR 1.50) stops nearly in front of the hotel, alternative restaurants near by. Good, but expensive breakfast buffet. Only little noise from traffic.

Not in a great part of town....we watched a car being stolen 100m from the hotel. Nightime staff were not friendly at all. The corridor to our room was very smelly, however the room was nice and functional. The info in the room stated room service available until 2330hrs, however at 2145hrs it was already closed. The breakfast was basic but the breakfast staff were worse. Only one member of staff was friendly and that was the receptionist on the morning we were leaving.

A 4 star hotel with no mini bar or fridge. When I asked for one they told me that there is no mini bar in a basic room. I thought that was a standard when you choose a 4star hotel. I was informed for the breakfast cost at check out time, not at check in. Free Wifi with no coverage in my room.

The hotel is 5 mins walk from the train station and 1 min from the nearest tram stop so was convenient for getting around. The Hotel staff were courteous and helpful. The room was clean,quiet and good size.

very pleasant stay with everything in place and no need to ask for anything. But the staff were excellent and helpful when chit chat became questions about where to go and eat, shop etc. They were very informative and helpful. Room really nice and breakfast was great too,
