Conveniently placed lbis for Calais, the ferry and Chunnel crossings, but not the best for space or comfort,

Although the welcome by the reception staff was warm and they were very helpful, this hotel is not up to the usual Ibis standard. Not sure which room this photo was taken in but it was nothing like the room given to us (on the front of the hotel), which had the feeling of a red Ibis having been hastily rebranded to Ibis Styles. The room was just about big enough for 2 and adequate for an over-nighter before catching an early Chunnel crossing. We had to go to reception to request towels, there being only one bath towel in the bathroom on arrival, which looked questionably clean. The air-con worked fine but the one surface available to put our stuff down was a very small table, which was extremely wobbly. The pillows were uncomfortable - rather flat and frankly quite useless. We had been informed that there would be a market outside the hotel on the Sunday morning (although we were at the front of the hotel, we had the window closed and were not disturbed by any market noise), so were advised not to park on the road outside the hotel or on the adjoining square. We booked a place in the hotel carpark (15 euros for the night), which was a good move. I would advise using it if you can, although it is very small, so booking a place in advance once your hotel booking is confirmed is certainly necessary. It is secure parking, but is tricky to find. You have to drive past the hotel (keep it on your right), turn right round square at the end of the road and pick your way back through the back streets (careful as some are one way) until you feel you are at the back of the hotel on a parallel road. You can then look right and you will see a set of white metal gates. Ring the bell and reception will let you in if they have been told you are heading to the parking. Breakfast was standard Ibis (included in the price) and served from 6 am. It was plentiful and fresh, with the added bonus of a percolated coffee pot and hot milk. There is also a water dispenser in reception. There are lots of restaurants available on the nearby square if you don't want to walk into town (about a 10 minute walk).

Not bad for a budget hotel

This is just about the only Calais hotel we haven't tried - just around the corner from our favourite, so we thought we'd give it a go. The parking is secure (but make sure you know where the entrance is if you don't know Calais well). The reception staff were friendly and efficient. The rooms are small and there are no tea or coffee making facilities and no fridge. There was a (very welcome) air conditioning unit but this struggled to get the room temperature below 25. Doors close quite noisily. The double glazing is efficient so we heard no noise from the street. Breakfast was good, laid back in a good sized space. We were allocated a disabled room despite not being disabled. The bathroom was a wet room - and got very wet (the water approached the door) when the shower was used.

Good central hotel

This is a good hotel at the cheaper end of the scale. A short walk from the railway station and on the route of the bus connecting the station and the port. Breakfast included. Good WiFi Prices vary daily but a few € can be saved by signing up to the All Hôtel group app.

Really good mid-range travelers hotel, with perfect location…two minutes walking from the gare, two minutes walking to Place des Armes. Nice breakfast in the lobby. Get a room off the street. Weekend partying and early morning street cleaning.

The positives are good location and great breakfast. Staff also very nice. Unfortunately I was given a room in the annex and as a single woman felt uncomfortable crossing a dark car park at night where there were several males hanging around. There was alot of street noise and no bath towel provided, just hand towels which isn't ideal.
