I really don't understand the negative reviews here. We stayed over in August and returned in September as we enjoyed it so much the first time. The staff are all very polite and helpful and the buildings clean and well cared for. The gardens are a delight, particularly the heated outdoor swimming pool. That was the icing on the cake! Parking was plentiful. Our room was large and well equipped (a superior I think) and had a covered patio that we'd like to have used more. As we had a dog, we ate in the bar at night. That was absolutely fine; we were told we could eat at a table outside the restaurant but we plumped for the bar as we only wanted sandwiches. We hope to return again some time! If you have a dog, there are lots of great walks on your doorstep. For evening walks, we just strolled along the main road as it had verges and was fairly quiet late at night.

I searched and booked a last minute much needed break within an hour of my home. I love outdoor swimming so the amazing 27’ temperature beautiful pool below Box Hill with fab facilities and lifeguards was a treat! My room was simply gorgeous and spacious and I slept so well for three nights in peace and comfort. The staff were such fun, friendly and helpful. Though the summer student staff can be a bit 21st C - like you know - ‘You alright?’ when approaching the bar; or trying to take my plate when I’m still eating etc etc. My star rating is 4 as us guests could have done with a little more guidance at Reception and in the restaurant - the breakfast is wonderful (and note - is totally help yourself - but you can order cooked to order if you spot the tiny menu pinned to the wall) and be aware to add credit to your check in card (I wasn’t advised) or you discover it’s pay as you go. Also, if you book something at reception, it may not reach the restaurant. I lost two hours of my life waiting for cream teas - part of my package. But these are small wriggles for the most fantastically located beautiful old hotel steeped in history, friendly cosy vibes from staff and guests, and the mind body soul sanctuary I was seeking. I recommend and I will be back :-)

Amazing, awesome, incredible are the only words to describe our experience at Mercure, Burford Bridge, Dorking, Surrey. We were met at our car as we pulled up by, Karima the most friendly human being I have ever met. The waiters in Emlyn; the hotel restaurant; Eden, Ollie and Jake were unbelievably friendly, helpful and yet professional. However, I was most impressed with Ellie, the housekeeper looking after our floor. She was exceptional. We will not only recommend, Mecure, Box Hill, Dorking to all our friends, but are signed up to the brand for life.

Thank you for leaving such a wonderful review of our hotel and team, all of my colleagues will be delighted especially those you encountered directly. We look forward to welcoming you back soon.

L'hôtel est facile d'accès avec un parking situé juste en face et gratuit pour les membres Accor. L'accueil fut un peu mitigé à mon goût. La chambre était agréable avec sa véranda et la vue sur le jardin. Notre passage au bar fut très sympa et nous avons bien dîné au restaurant de l'hôtel.

The staff were lovely but the hotel cost £209 for one night, which I felt was extremely overpriced but we booked the hotel as we were attending a wedding in the barn. The hotel has no lift or gym although the pool was lovely. My main complaint was the food the breakfast, the eggs, tea, bacon were all cold and the sausages were tepid. The food we had in the evening was also stone cold, very disappointing.

I am sorry you did feel you received value for money, our rates include VAT 20%, booking fees, breakfast for two persons, parking, use of the pool and the comfort of your chosen room for up to between 2pm and midday the next day. I'll be sure to share your comments with our chefs so that they may monitor the temperatures of buffets a little more closely.
