Go-to hotel when in Macau. It's a bit away from the main casino sites, so not so crazy, especailly given that its casino had to close. Still, a 5 min walk will have you in the centre of the city. Also, Hengqin ferry is a 5 min walk. Good size rooms, not as expensive as other casino hotels, all mod cons. Japanese style toilet would be nice. Buffet breakfast and dinner superb, some of the best I have seen. All high quality ingredients. Only unheated outdoor pool, which is good enough for 8 months out of the year though.

World's worst Sofitel! Imagine a Sofitel hotel without anyone to help with your luggage, or not having proper drinking water system in your room and not having 24×7 in room dining. The in-room dining shuts at 11 pm so if you have reached the hotel post 11 pm, you will have to sleep without eating. That's Sofitel Macau for you. Really really bad service. I am an Accor Gold Member and I was given a room with a partial river view when I had booked a river view room. Leave aside upgrades that I get when I stay anywhere else with Accor, looks like Sofitel Macau doesn't even give you rooms you have paid for. So no people to attend for your luggage, no 24×7 room service, no value given to Accor Members or any guest. Surely this is the worst Sofitel I have stayed at in the world. Worse than Novotle. Almost the standards of Ibis. Strongly recommend never stay here. Pick a lot of 4 Star hotels nearby which might be lot better.

A Good Place to Stay, but Quality is Slipping

The hotel is slipping. We’ve been staying here for our Macau trips since 2013. This past visit there were noticeable changes. The casino was recently closed, so now they cater to regular tourists. They cut back on their shuttle service with no pick-up at the Hong Kong Macau Zhuhai Bridge Port of Entry. It shows they are now catering to mainland visitors. They cut out the daily two free water bottles. The rooms are still the same as twelve years ago. To be fair, the rates are very good. The location is still good. There are good local restaurants within a short walk. The breakfast buffet is still very good. The beds are comfortable, and the shower water is hot. It is better than a western 3-star hotel but not quite a 4-star hotel. I’d give a 3.5 rating if possible.If this hotel was in mainland, it would surely be a mainland 5-star hotel. Knowing all this, it is a very good place to stay, still, because of their rates. It’s just not as good as before. Oh….and the front desk staff seemed less friendly. Polite, but no longer friendly or welcoming.

Away from Casinos and in the middle of historical Macao

Very comfortable, luxurious hotel, staff is amazing especially in the 6th floor Cafe, Luisa, Michelle, Mark, Romeo and others always so friendly and helpful with the food definitely above average from Dim Sum options to made to order crepes. A little disappointment with the desk staff who wouldn't change my 500 pataka bill because of a tiny tear, but otherwise excellent hotel for a very fair price

Stayed for 11 nights and enjoyed it. Location of the hotel is great to see historic Macau. Also good to get great local food. Hotel is dated but everything works. Front desk staff and concierge were all very helpful. Breakfest buffet is good considering it’s a lot cheaper than other 5 star hotels in Macau. I highly recommend the restaurant Le Chinois on the 18th floor! I had both lunch and diner and it was great! Really nice views too. Pool is not heated anymore like it used to. They also don’t give bottled water too. But staff is helpfull and you can order drinks. I tried the Spa and it was ok. Good massage and facial, but again you can see the facility is dated.
