As an Accor member, we were not greeted in the best way. Upon arrival to the front desk, we lined up at the priority check in, in addition to having completed online check in. One of the staff (later found out she is called Theresa) came and said, "line up over there, no one is serving this line" without any eye contact. If that check in counter is shut for members, shouldn't there be a sign to indicate that? Even if that counter is not operating, the staff could ask guests kindly to use the rest of the lines to line up. If online check in does not make any difference to the check in process, then why should guest waste time to complete online check in prior to the arrival?

The hotel is not clean

I find the toilet is dirty which the walls has got moldy and the room has some smell. And cannot make the booking of the meals for buffet which make me disappointed. The slippers can be improved which give better quality.

Meal arrangement was disappointing

I’ve booked romantic package direct with the hotel at $1388, inclusive of dinner and breakfast buffet. But my experience was very disappointing. 1. I presume there is lowest price guarantee through direct booking with hotel, but it wasn’t. The price was lowered through booking with KLook which was $1188. When I sounded this out, nothing changed. 2. I requested high floor, but I was given a middle level floor, and at first assigned a room facing directly the residential buildings. When I requested for a change, another better view one was given. I presume that the hotel will firstly provide a better room to member, but not when upon request. 3. The worst experience was the meal arrangement! We, and other guests, had to line up and wait for 30 minutes before serving a table for the dinner buffet! And the restaurant was too full that guests had to line up a long queue to get food. I was totally annoyed with such arrangement and without the desire for the food. Same situation for breakfast time, though the waiting time to get a table was a bit shortened, but the queues for all the popular food, such as omelette, was too long for anyone to wait! The reception staff were friendly, but the management was poor and arrangement disappointing!

I have extended the room check out to 4pm. However, there is terrible noise due to renovation starting from noon. The noise keeping going to 3pm. This is unpleasant and i wont extent if notice in advance.

Need more training to the staff

We can't see any smile from all the front desk staff. We have a welcome drink coupon to have a drink at the buffet restaurant. When we entered the restaurant before 9:00pm there was no staff to take care of us. We had searched a waitress to tell here we would like to have a drink here, she said the restaurant will close at 10:00pm, that means we are not welcome. She told us to wait. We waited for 10 mins. Finally, we can sit down and have a drink, but we have a bad feeling on it.

Terrible service and lack of integrity

This is my worst experience. Different staff gave different information and they denied what they confirmed with affronted attitudes. I will not choose any Novotel hotels and renew the Accor Plus membership again in the future.

Nice staycation

Nice gesture for room upgrade, the house keeping on our floor was very proactive and friendly with her service. She is an asset to the hotel. This is in contrast with a senior manager of the hotel who comes for breakfast everyday frowning, this aged man who came in suite and tie dines alone and does not reflect the service culture for the hotel well.

A good experience at Tung Chung Area, enjoy a ride on Ngong Ping 360. Staff provide good service and hospitality. A good stay, thus enabling a relaxation of current stress. We have a good airview of the Airport when having a ride on Ngong Ping 360. When staying inside the hotel room, we also have a good sight of the Airport.

Magnificent room and view

My booking is a Premier room which is spacious with an excellent view. We were offered free access to the Premier Lounge on 21st Floor and we loved the cosy environment and light refreshments. This added extra delight to my experience with the hotel.

great stopover hotel in Hong Kong

This is a very good stopover hotel when you are having a long layover in Hong Kong. It is not far from Hong Kong Airport and they provide you a free airport shuttle. The journey only takes not more than 10 minutes. It is super convenient. What I love about this Hotel over the other airport hotel is that it is located next to a shopping mall. So if you are tired of Hotel food and would like to have something different, you can just pop over and look at what it has to offered. The service is also friendly. The staff are very helpful. The only downside is that the hotel looks a bit dated. Other than that it is very clean and tidy. If I am ever having a stopover in Hong Kong, this would be the first hotel I would consider.

Poor processes

This is the 4th time I have stayed at the Novotel Citygate in HK. Each time the process has failed. I book 2 interconnecting rooms and an extra rollaway bed for a family of 5 to overnight. Each time before the booking I am notified that we have interconnecting rooms and the rollaway for additional $. Each time we arrive the interconnecting rooms are not open and the bed is not in the room. This requires a call to housekeeping (this time at 3am) to get the doors unlocked and the bed made up. This is incredibility frustrating with a tired family. I can forgive this process error once or maybe twice but 4 times in a row clearly the process of booking vs the order to be fulfilled by housekeeping is not working. The rollaway beds are as hard as a rock also. We make do by using the extra pillows in the rooms to pad it out. I have also never received any welcome item as a Platinum guest which while not really required is something I do receive at other Accor hotels that I frequent.

Stayed the hotel 3 times during stop over in Hong Kong in Dec 19 & Jan 20. Bath room and beds were clean however the carpet was tired. A steam cleaning carpert needs to be done. Overall it's expensive per night stay.

Staffs who in restaurant are really poor attitude. Generally, hotel is in good location and it direct connect with the shopping mall. However, the facilities in hotel are old. Water for shower is too weak. The worst thing is the staff attitude is ready bad.

we came back from a trip and our flight was at midnight so I booked a day room at the Novotel which I can recommend. Location is perfect, inside a mall very close to the airport ( they deliver a free shuttle service ) amazingly good breakfast and also close to some site seeing. Room was clean big and very quiet. The subway is also leaving from the mall so this hotel has it all.

Disappointing stay

Had stayed at the hotel a few times before, and it has been good so far. On this trip, however, the drain was choked in the shower in one of the premium rooms, and the water was not flowing down while I was showering. Credit to the hotel that they did fix it within the same day, but surprised that this happened in one of the premium rooms.

Great for Shopping

Hotel was directly connected to the outlet shops at Citygate, which was great. There was plenty to see, do and eat at the outlet malls. The rooms were of a good size and comfortable. All in all, a good stay.

Excellent location because it is in the mall that you can get everything you need or it is so close to the HZM bridge if you want to go to mainland China. However, the rate is so high in view of the current situation in HK comparing with other hotels. Also, the housekeeping service and front desk service needs to be improved. We have upgraded to suites that should provide 2 pressing service daily but housekeeping said it is only 2 pressing service during each visit. This showed that they did not understand what the hotel is offering. Also, I have guaranteed all expenses and incidentals of my stay but the front desk said I did not and I have to pay for a HKD500 bottle of wine immediately. I paid by cash and what is this service? I am disappointed when you have paid nearly USD5k in this hotel.

good value for money very spacious

stayed here for few days last week in the new year.. a family of 4... -link to citygate dfo and mtr -easy access to disneyland (after long day at disney, it is handy that we don't need to queue for mtr back to kowloon/hk island--since the hotel location is against the traffic) -ngoc ping cable station short walk -shuttle to/from airport every 20mins -check in online - all good English speaking staff, no issues -nice and clean we got the premiere suite. -very spacious room...quite rare in hk.. -bathtub jet is big and very relaxing, with tv as well.. separate shower..separate toilet -breakfast included, variety of food ok (but the same for 2 days), noodle soup and congee is really good, others' quality average.. -access to premiere lounge.. 2.30-5pm afternoon tea...sandwich, yogurt, fruits, juices, tea coffee 5.30-8pm cocktail...salad, yogurt, fruits, juices, tea coffee, alcohol beverage!!! the staff at the lounge is very friendly and accomodating -gym 24hr really good -swimming pool closed in winter :( happy overalls.

It's very near from the airport, Disney land, ngping cable car, shopping outlets, restaurants, train station. We could check in early. The staffs are kind. Room is kept clean. Definitely we'll be back.

A very convenient location in HK!

Novotel Citygates is a very convenient location for someone who is interested in exploring Lantau Island and have equally convenient access to shopping, transportation, and food facilities. Located adjacent to the Citygate outlet mall, the hotel literally has signs in the mall and has its own access escalators from the hotel lobby to the mall / bridgeway. Being at this proximity to the mall means also quick access to the MTR (< 10 min. walk) and the Tung Chung station so quick access if you wanted to have a day trip and visit HK / Kowloon and even Disneyland Resorts. We were a large group with mostly children (under 9 y/o) so the convenience of the hotel being <10 min. away from the airport, with complimentary shuttle service erased any additional logistics (and cost) to get to the hotel upon our arrival and was one of the clinchers choosing this particular hotel over other Accor chains. We also wanted to see Ngong Ping and Tai O village and the cable car station was a quick walk from the hotel / outlet mall. Also, the location afforded us many food options from the malls and nearby establishments making it easy for the kids as well. While not the cheapest among Novotel chains in HK, its many features does make up for its higher prices and would (and already am) recommend this to anyone who has the time of day to listen to me :)
