I actually really enjoyed this Novotel! The shuttle to and from the airport is super handy. The location is great - the hotel sits right next to a shopping center and the subway, so getting to Hong Kong is a breeze. We had a room on the 18th floor with a view of the airport, loved it. Everything was clean and well kept, with just a few signs of wear here and there. Breakfast was tasty, and the staff were incredibly attentive. The reception and concierge folks were standout - friendly and genuinely kind. All in all, well done. I’d be happy to come back.

Excellent Stay, Unfortunate Concierge Experience

Our Christmas holiday stay was pleasant overall, but unfortunately it was marred on the afternoon of departure today due to a rude concierge interaction. When only two out of four pieces of luggage were brought out, the staff member responded curtly, saying he had “only a pair of hands and one body,” instead of offering a polite explanation. We did not rush or pressure him and understand that the festive period can be busy and short manning of staff, but a courteous response would have been appreciated. This single incident left an unfortunate final impression on an otherwise good stay. I would have happily given a 5-star rating if not for this service lapse.

It is truly impressive how this establishment has managed to redefine basic hospitality by making cleanliness an optional feature rather than a standard. The curated collection of carpet stains and discarded noodles provides a lived-in atmosphere that most modern hotels strive to avoid. Furthermore, the stains on the bathrobes and the distressed aesthetic of the soiled curtains and peeling wallpaper suggest a commitment to a "neglected" decor style that is rarely seen in professional lodging. If the goal was to ensure guests feel as uncomfortable as possible, the execution has been flawless.

Highly Disappointed by Breakfast in Restaurant (Essence)

Stayed 4 nights in a suite - (which has awkward designs and tons of storage spaces as if meant for permanent stays). Service of housekeeping staff was good and prompt. However, staff of ground floor restaurant gave us tons of pain: 1. Very less options for vegetarians (except breads, cereals, fruits which get over) 2. MANY DISHES GET OVER AROUND 9AM and ARE NOT REFILLED! 3. If you ask for fruit or any refills, you get terrible looks from staff as if it's been a crime 4. All 3 days we had breakfast - 95% of the menu was same, including weekend. 5. BIGGEST red flag: I had asked for breakfast packages to-go early morning for our flight with clear instructions of no ham/red meat. Yet, we found salami in sandwiches. Result - we had to spend $250+ to get breakfast at the airport Lastly, the pool looks big only in photos AND it's SHUT(!!) for maintenance now for the next 3 months?! Not sure if this is called out during booking - but quite a downer.
