The hotel is accessible both from train station and to port if onward travel is concerned. The rooms are basic but clean. No tea and coffee facilities. But essentially you get a good nights sleep. Where this place fails and is totally out of order is on the environment of the hotel on the public areas. It is more akin to a homeless shelter. During breakfast which was a disaster both in choice and hygiene, guests shred their breakfast with two undesirable looking drunks, drinking some indeterminate alcoholic beverage from a plastic bottle, rolling spliffs on the table and generally creating an atmosphere of unpleasantness. Another person was unconscious on another table. All this while guests are charged £10 to eat at the buffet. Staff watch on as this use of facilities continues. A truly disgraceful experience and the management of this place should be ashamed of themselves for charging money to stay in an environment like this.

Booked last minute due to a train strike that ended up being called off! I booked via Super.com and couldn’t find any way to contact them, even though the booking was supposed to be fully refundable — so I just stayed anyway. The room was basic and quite small, with only two sockets on one side. It was clean-ish, but the bed and pillows were surprisingly comfortable. The shower worked well, although the room got a bit too hot during the night. Cons: The hallway smelled of cigarette smoke even though it’s a non-smoking hotel. The stairwell had a noticeable smell of weed. Other guests were noisy and chatted loudly in the corridors late at night. Overall, it was okay for a one-night stay, but I wouldn’t recommend it for a longer visit.

Choose elsewhere to stay.

I stayed here one night pre cruise. Worst hotel I have stayed in. Noise constantly in the hall from guests amd staff who have disregard for other guests trying to sleep. Door latch in hall constantly opening and closing by Guests and staff. The bed was clean. I wouldn't recommend this place tbh. Refuse room 15 if offered.

Rooms a decent size with decent facilities. Access by lift and stairs. Close to shopping and city centre. Option for breakfast.
