Carlos and Caio were so kind and helpful. When I mentioned I wanted to see a specific place, they arranged a driver to take me on a tour, and an English speaking guide to help! After travelling for 30 hours, they helped me arrange appointments and called places for me when I couldn’t understand. I was so very grateful for all the staff. I had an awful experience in São Paulo and wanted to leave the whole country, after the kindness and friendliness of the staff here I felt much at ease. The hotel’s location was walking distance to many shops, restaurants, cafes etc and was very comfortable.

I stayed in the hotel from December 26 to 29th. My experience was negative beginning by the maintenance problems in my room in the bath with portable shower which was not properly fixed in the wall representing some risk when in use. Then, the breakfast was terrible. Poor quality of products, terrible organization and presentation at the tables and also an unfriendly management by the responsible for the place. Such inconvenient led me to take breakfast in other place outside the hotel. Additionally, the employee does not show a cordial attitude. All of inconveniences were reported to general management and also indicate on my evaluation report sent to me by guest relations.

Summary: an average hotel, in a great location with surly staff. The good: Location: well located in Centro district, close to a nearby shopping mall with a supermarket and many bars and restaurants. Great views of Baía Norte from my “luxury room” with sea view. Porter: professional and friendly service from the porter. He always opened car doors when you returned and provided a warm verbal “welcome back” Welcome note: hotel did leave a nice welcome note in the room with a Kinda Bueno chocolate and complementary water to recognise my Accor Gold status. Stark contrast to what happened at check-in. The bad: Accor status: as an Accor Gold, I’m entitled to an early check-in (where available) I arrived at the property around 12:30pm, standard check-in time was 2pm. Front desk advised I couldn’t check in early and said to come back at 2pm - no reason was provided why early check in wasn’t available. At check in I was provided with a card to redeem a free welcome drink but it was never explained where to claim this and the Accor app states the properties bar is closed. I never redeemed it in the end. Front desk staff: were incredibly stand-offish and didn’t speak a word to me after check in. Not even a “good morning or hello” as you walked past the front desk each day. When checking out, I was standing at the front desk and the agent was free but ignored me. So I put my keycard in the express check out box instead. I didn’t receive any confirmation of my check out or final invoice until 3 days later via email. Noisy: poor soundproofing, I could hear the guests above and in the next room. Slamming doors was constant, especially when people had their windows open. Room: was just OK, nothing special or luxury about it as it’s marketed. Disappointing low pressure and lukewarm temperature shower. Conclusion: this hotel has good bones, but staff need some retraining to be more warm and friendly to guests. I fear this is another example of this region not receiving many foreign (Western) tourists so the staff don’t know how to act or aren’t confident communicating in English

Novotel Florianopolis: Solid stay in a great location

In a completely positive way, this stay for two nights was a typical pleasant Novotel experience. The hotel was clean, well-maintained, and quiet. It was very conveniently located across from the waterfront and easy walking distance to shopping and restaurants. The room was well-appointed and the bed was comfortable. Wi-fi was fast and reliable. The breakfast was a quality buffet was a good variety of hot and cold foods. I didn't eat in the restaurant for other meals and I didn't use the fitness center due to the proximity of well-marked running trail along the waterfront. All-in-all a solid stay and a good choice for a visit to Florianopolis.

Dated card entry system! Super annoying!

Nice hotel, friendly staff BUT…. Terrible dated key entry system You need a card key cutting every time you want to use the lift or enter the bedroom . Super annoying when staying for several nights. Also, not a fan of paying in full at check in… Sadly I wouldn’t stay here again.
