Average stay but shower is awful.

An average hotel. Room had 2 beds in which we felt was unnecessary as there was barely any space to walk around. Some modern elements to the hotel but the bathroom was super outdated. The shower was horrendous. There was some pressure but there is no free holding shower head and it’s difficult keeping your hair dry if you are only having a body wash. The beds were comfy. Iron and ironing board provided in room. There is a fridge and hairdryer. Limited toiletries. There is a shower gel/ shampoo combo on the shower and also one by the sink. Large tv in room. Full length mirror. Desk area. There is a lot of noise outside the room. Free parking available on site. You can also use gym/spa facilities at Novotel next door. USB phone charger next to bed. WiFi is good. Kettle in room. Friendly staff. Overall, not a bad stay but the shower was the game changer for me.

We stayed here for two nights, and had a good stay. Our Platinum status was acknowledged, we the drinks voucher, some wine/chocolates, other goodies.. no room upgrade unfortunately. We were late for breakfast, and were pointed to the Novotel next door which stays open a bit longer; which was much appreciated. Easy parking (although you might not get a space), close to Eat Street with all the restaurants, close to the lake for great walks, and easy access too the town. Also have a guest laundry in the basement, if needed Check in and check out were a breeze, with very friendly service. Well worth the price for the stay we had.

We had a fantastic stay at the Ibis Rotorua. Room was comfortable, service at the front desk and housekeeping were great. Location was amazing right near the lake and walking distance to all of the restaurants and shops downtown. Bonus with free access to the Novotel Gym & Spa and free laundry on the basement level. Would definitely stay again!

Appalling don’t stay here

The hotel at first mistakenly cancelled our booking which we were unaware of until we arrived to book in. They eventually admitted it was their error but we received no apology. When they did find us a room, it was substandard and the fridge hadn’t been emptied and cleaned and contained old food. The bathroom sink was stained and the whole room was in urgent need of some cleaning and renovation. We had to ask for basics which we never received. At least the bed was comfortable but that’s it.

These are not the standards we aim for, and I regret that we fell short during your stay. The lack of cleanliness and failure to provide basic amenities are unacceptable, and we are addressing these issues with our housekeeping and front desk teams to prevent such occurrences in the future. While it’s good to hear the bed was comfortable, I understand this doesn’t make up for the other shortcomings. Ex-COVID quarantine facility with dumpster views - has gone downhill. Stay somewhere else

The hotel has deteriorated badly in most of the aspects. Breakfast only open till 9 am. The service felt like in a budget 1-star establishment. Long queue for check-in and check-out. The room dirty screaming for renovation. After being COVID quarantine facility, the hotel gone badly downhill. Some stains in the room possibly even remember that times. Air conditioning has been working incorrectly - it felt like in a heat box. If you like to have an active dumpster view room, that’s the place for you. The management of the hotel appears to be indifferent and not take responsibility for what they offering - they just say that they are grateful for the feedback, but they know exactly what’s wrong with their property and save money rather than fix it. Of course, it can always get worse - so far I wasn’t bitten by bed bugs or rats, but it wouldn’t surprise me if that’s the future for this hotel, as it’s badly neglected in my opinion. Stay somewhere else!
