Very disappointing hotel.

The amenity of this hotel leaves a lot to be desired. It is tired and not well maintained. The bed was hard. The bed linen was clean, but not at all comfy or luxurious. The pillows were very small, hard, flat and gave little support. I asked for better pillows to be sent to our room, but similar terrible pillows were delivered. We could not find a box of tissues in the room and asked if some could be provided, only to be told that the hotel did not supply tissues to the room. We were surprised afterwards when we did actually find a box of tissues in a cupboard. We needed a small sewing kit for running repairs on our coat. The hotel does not provide any such items though. On the ground floor lobby there is one men’s toilet which is shared as a disabled toilet. I have no problem with that. My gripe is that the lock on the door does not work. So there is no privacy if someone else needs to use that toilet. They can just walk in and interrupt your business. But the piece de resistance was the hotel’s elevator. Until now, I had never been stuck in an elevator. The elevator doors closed me in on the ground floor, but the lift would not go up or down AND would not open to let me out. So I was banging loudly on the door until another guest on the ground floor pushed the call button on the outside which thankfully opened the lift door and allowed me to escape somewhat relieved. On the plus side, the hotel restaurant and bar were pretty good. The location was handy too. Quite close to a metro station, tram and shopping centre. But all-in-all, Novotel Barcelona City does not deserve its four star rating.

I am writing to formally raise a complaint regarding the unacceptable experience I am currently having during my layover at Novotel Barcelona City. Firstly, upon arrival, I requested a room change due to the availability of other rooms not being used by two other members who live locally in Barcelona and they were not staying at the hotel. The front desk staff, however, was dismissive and unaccommodating. The receptionist not only refused my request but was also rude and provided what seemed to be a fabricated excuse to avoid resolving the matter. Secondly, and most importantly, the room temperature has been uncomfortably warm. The air conditioning is completely deactivated, and I have been unable to sleep due to the excessive heat. When I initially called for assistance, I was assured a technician would address the issue, but no one ever came. On a subsequent call at 4 a.m., I was told to simply use the fan and open a window since the hotel has set the entire property to a “winter climate mode,” disabling the air conditioning altogether. When I asked if there were any alternative solutions, I was told bluntly that none exist. The lack of professionalism, inadequate room conditions, and dismissive responses from the hotel staff do not meet the standards expected.

We had passed through barcelona 8 days before and stayed in two rooms in an airport hotel but as we left our son we decided without daughter to take one room the family room and we arrived to special free parking below for accor members and sofa bed was made up, the room had extra separate toilet, bath to die for and great shower and was very comfortable,we ate breakfast which good ate and drank at level 19 bar also good.

Family-fridenly hotel, in an outstanding location near to frequent public transport lines to city center and to beach, as well. Helpful staff with particular kindness to children. Delicious, diverse breakfast. Perfect choice for families.

It was a great stay! The hotel has an excellent location. Getting to know the city and its attractions is so easy. The hotel staff is pleasant and willing to help. Sleep is undisturbed and the breakfast was suoer, with a great selection of dishes. I highly recommend the hotel.
