October half-term break with friends. 7 day trip with my daughter. The pros for this hotel are that the property is stunning, right on the beach, rooms are spacious and clean. The pool area is spacious with plenty of beds, the beach area also has plenty of beds. Spanish restaurant is amazing. The cons. Service at breakfast is shockingly bad, 15-20 min wait, repeatedly asking for items, milk, ice, napkins etc some days they would arrive after the meal. With two 11 year olds, going through the same frustrating experience everyday was exhausting. We mentioned this to the manager, it was better on day 6-7 of our holiday. Service by the pool, again, awful, staff not proactive, you would have to get your own towels, even with 3 staff members looking at you getting your bed sorted and then told they had run out, this was by 10am. There are plenty of staff milling around but not offering any assistance. Getting a menu, 15-20 mins wait, getting order taken, 15-20 mins wait. Again, with kids, its extremely frustrating. The beach had zero service and wasn't cleaned very often. Everyday we would tip the staff by the pool, hoping that it would improve the service but it took until the end of our holiday to have any impact. Life guards, always on their phone, not actively working, hiding behind the landscaping, which was beautiful but still, not where the life guards should be. Day 6-7 improved after many complaints to the manager. I have to commend Youness, he made the last 2 days comfortable for us, a huge thank you for your kindness and generosity. He kindly gave me a tagine as we had long conversations about my love for Morocco, the country, people and food. It was my 3rd time this year. Saying that, there is very little Moroccan food on the menus, which was disappointing. Room service took far too long, went to the wrong room and was cold and couldn't be eaten, this was deducted from bill. Spa for Haman scrub, extremely expensive and run down. Better service, treatments and price in other hotels. Hotel was undergoing construction, very noisy at times, we weren't informed about this. No kids club due to lack of staff. Turndown service entered my room at 10.15pm while I was asleep. Door was locked. I woke to a man in my room, luckily my daughter didn't wake up. Hotel apologised profusely. It didn't happen again but prior to that, even with do not disturb sign on, staff would knock and enter. My friend got sick twice from the food, which ruined her time away. As stunning as the hotel looks, it doesn't warrant 5 stars. The Fairmont in Tagazhout far outshines the Sofitel. The manager did sit with us and kindly took our complaints on board but not until the end of our staying. I would like to hope that they train their staff better, to be more pro-active and helpful. If they were all like Youness, it would benefit.

Positive: - The hotel is right by the sea and has one of the most beautiful gardens we have ever seen. - The staff are very friendly and helpful - The rooms are functional and good - we had a side sea view against the dunes and a good balcony - There are 2 restaurants and one with a buffet. Buffet - OK Spanish restaurant - excellent - fish and meat - my best entrecote I have ever eaten Fish restaurant by the sea - Sensational fish - absolutely top Negativ: The hotel is currently being renovated and there is some construction noise - but only the people who want to be by the pool can hear it - you can't hear it by the sea. Also visually everything is done so that you don't see it. It is one of the 2 side wings that is completely closed. The walls of the rooms are thin. Our neighbor had the great idea to bring his Playstation from home and play car racing until one o'clock in the morning. Or to argue loudly with his partner or wife at 6 in the morning. SPA - You can only go to the hammam if you have a treatment. We know this differently from other hotels in Morocco. The treatments are also overpriced and if you want one you are told - Fully booked. When you eat in the Spanish restaurant, a musician sings Spanish songs. The musician is very good but with a volume of sometimes 85db (measured with an iPhone) it is almost impossible to have a conversation, and you get an earache. Unfortunately, our complaints did not help. The music was so loud that if you eat outside in the buffet, the music from the Spanish restaurant drowned out the music from the buffet. So unfortunately untenable for us who like to enjoy our food. In the great fish restaurant was Disko music. There is a room is enclosed in glass, but the bass goes through everything and you can hear the music well. I think background music is also good for eating, but here the volume was so loud that, although the restaurants are so excellent, we didn't feel like eating there any more. In the end we were glad to be able to go home again.

A beautifully maintained hotel, but slow service

Stayed for five nights, following a long weekend break in Marrakesh. The hotel itself is beautiful, very well presented and extremely clean throughout. Food was great, and with good variety too, we ate in all three restaurants. Rooms were spacious and all amenities available - our room was freshly renovated only three months ago. The reason for only 4 out of 5 stars is the service. The service was frustrating. Some evenings we would be seated for dinner and 20 minutes would pass before we were offered a drink. Or we would order and then be waiting the same duration for them to arrive. The hotel was only around 50% capacity and there seemed to be more staff than guests, but most of which just stood around and glared at empty plates that needed clearing or scrolled through their phones. It was almost like each staff member was given a particular job (floor sweeper for example) and should you ask them for something that wasn’t part of that role, you’d be met with a blank expression, or told to ask someone else. We wondered how an earth they coped when the hotel was at capacity. Another issue we encountered during our stay was the understanding of ‘half board’ in the a la carte restaurants. You’re given an allowance of 380mad per person (which is plentiful I may add), but each night were expected to sign for the bill without this deduction from our food total. Again, such a frustrating matter. We mentioned this to one of the managers at the reception, fearing that when we checked out we would encounter the problem again, but thankfully on check out this had been rectified. Such a shame that the service tainted our view of this hotel, as stated previously, the hotel itself is stunning and well maintained throughout.

The service Laila provided for me and my family was legendary. Every day, when we came back to our hotel room, our blanket was made and there were rose petals on it. I’m certain that this is not a mandatory thing hotels force their staff to do, so my family and I felt privileged and lucky to have this experience. One thing I will mention however, is the lack of English speakers. I’m well aware that this is a 5 star hotel, and as such, shouldn’t there be menus available in English? I believe this should be the bare minimum for a 5 star hotel. This is a big flaw, as well as the labels on the food. They do not specify if certain foods have nuts or not. And some foods are just entirely, as a whole, unlabelled. This is a safety hazard for people with allergies. Please fix this. And, the service for some restaurants is very slow. Either the waiters are busy, or they just are not bothered to come to you. Please fix this.

Absolutely amazing service hotel is perfect for family couples or solo. Pools food excellent spa is amazing and my room attendant Oumaima was fantastic very helpful and aimed to make sure my room was to full comfort🥰🥰🥰would definately recommend and return
