No problems here. The location is very good, a few minutes walk from the station and another few minutes to Union Street for restaurants and pubs . A nice view of the harbour from my window. Breakfast available on site. I will return on my next trip.

Comfy clean hotel but as our car is non compliant car with LEZ zone we can’t park anywhere near it and gulped to find we would face a huge fine after approaching the hotel to drop off our bags Thank you Hotel Ibis Aberdeen for dealing with our concerns about having driven to the hotel in a diesel non compliant car as the general manager reimbursed us what the fine will cost us ( which we acknowledge he didn’t have to do as it us very much buyer beware ) . We had to park a 20 minute walk away from the hotel and walk in and the manager offered us assistance with our cases thank you . It was also on the site that the hotel was in a LEZ zone ( he did show us ) but it was not obvious at first reading / not really clear to us I do acknowledge this is very much our responsibility and not hotel ibis decision to be in a LEZ zone but we feel it might help future hotel visitors to check if their car is compliant with the LEZ rules before selecting this hotel as if not each time you use the adjacent ncp car park you will be fined Could this be made more obvious when booking perhaps ? No problem at all if your car is compliant or you arrive by taxi And thanks yo the hotel for resolving this as we were really worried how much we will be fined ( you can’t pay retrospectively just face the fund if you breach the rules and you will already pass the LEZ signs without realising if you are new to the city Thanks for resolving this ibis Aberdeen appreciate your understanding Future clients watch out

We love the Ibis Aberdeen! This was probably our 7th or 8th visit this year and we are always welcomed warmly. I have yet to come across a member of staff who hasn’t been friendly, efficient and who goes above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. Magda, the AGM is amazing and you can see her influence over her team. The rooms are spotless and for the money are incredible value for money. Jack our very friendly boy always gets a cuddle and a little tasty treat from the staff and he gets so excited when we tell him we’re going to the Ibis for a wee break. Being in the hospitality industry ourselves we really value the effort and passion that the team put into their work.

Deception and First Impressions

The room and early check in were paid for months in advance. Upon arrival we were greeted by someone that said there were no rooms available and we should have "read the fine print." Fortunately, someone who actually knew what was going on took over and checked us into the room. For the record there is NO FINE PRINT stating that if you paid for early check in and there are no rooms that you are out of luck. Also, we booked the hotel for the use of the gym that the website claims is an amenity. When we asked where it was we were told that there is no gym, management has been asked to take it down off the website (a few words and one picture) and won't and to pay for a day pass at the gym next door to the hotel. We were deceived and this is a misrepresentation by the hotel. When we filled out the "how did we do" survey that came after our stay, we wrote a sincere note hoping to receive some type of acknowledgement and have received nothing. Based on the responses to less than positive reviews for the hotel, this will at best get a passive aggressive (blah blah) cut and pasted response. The review would have gotten one star if not for the delightful, professional and helpful employees we encountered that worked there.

Early check in all over the world in every hotel can never be guaranteed as no hotel will block a room for you the previous night because you have paid for early check in. What this simply means in the hospitality industry is that you will be prioritized when you arrive the hotel based on availability. Check in time is 3pm, if we got rooms cleaned by 12noon and hand your keys to you that is the early check in you paid for. Arriving the hotel at 7am in the morning and expecting a room when checkout is 12noon can never be guaranteed even in a 5 star hotel. Secondly, on our website it states gym facility is available next door to the hotel and it is payable, meaning you pay as you go at the PureGym next door.
