Good Hotel

Good hotel. Next door to Novotel. There was nothing around the hotel, you had to walk a good 10 minutes into Bern centre (downhill on way there and up hill on way back). We struggled getting snacks for the room as everywhere closed at 6pm and the petrol station Spar across the road were charging €6 for a bar of chocolate! Tip - supermarkets are open underground at the train station after 6pm (though parking a nightmare). Breakfast was just ok, basic continental food. There was no vending machine in the hotel and snack choice was very poor. Bern is a fantastic place, well worth the visit!

The property is far from the city center, but there is tram stop in front of the hotel where you can reach the center by 15-20 minutes. Staff were nice and courteous. But funny thing is their pillow, just check my photo. Breakfast is basic, bread, cereals, meat and cheese, egg, waffle machine available, coffee and tea, juice.

I had a recent stay at the Bern expo for 2 week as part of a business trip. I had a very nice stay, location has easy access to the city with regular on time transport, very clean hotel, all enquiries were complete with no issues and very efficient. Very friendly and professional staff especially thanks to Daria at the front office for all her help with local information, restrants and area of interests for the duration of our stay, she was very helpful and appreciated by the group.

Worst Ever Hotel Stay

Initially booked it for 2 days because of good location though we found good professional receptionist but still had to cancel the next day booking due to: Spooky unclean way up to elevators from basement parking. Broken lobby furniture. Unclean room corners. Could not sleep due to broken thermostat. Bathroom door has gap in bottom and on top causing bad smell when companion is using toilet forcing the other person to get out of the room. Bath room floods while taking shower.

The hotels in the center of Bern where I usually stay were all booked for at least one night of my stay at the end of August/early September. I knew that Ibis was new, so I thought I'd try it. It's quite convenient to the tram (no. 9), which the hotel can give you a free ticket for. The front desk staff were all quite helpful and friendly. The breakfast buffet seemed expensive (Sfr 16), especially since items weren't kept filled. Then I found that the Ibis-Budget breakfast had the items I liked, was Sfr. 3 less expensive, and items were kept filled. I'm not sure if the cross-over is always possible, but it worked for my last day. And I found that for what was offered, the price was OK (coffee and a croissant at my favorite Glatz bakery were about Sfr 9; the hotel had muesli, rolls and croissants, and various types of coffee, plus juice and other options).
