heated pool great. Played tennis and the sauna was great. The two ajoining rooms were a great improvement from when we just booked last time. food was a little disappointing the the restaurant. Mainly game meat. Only one vegitarian dish. Would have liked more chicken dishes, vegitarion or fish as we dont eat red meat. They made us some bespoke kids meals which was good. Would be nive to have a teenage menu as the kids menu was too babyish for teenagers. Adult meals were too grown up (game meat)

Neat, tidy, well upkept accommodation in a beautiful bush setting. Staff were friendly and ultimately helpful, despite being very busy!! Dinner at the restaurant was a bit of the "Fawlty Towers" situation, but complementary bread and superb pate ironed out the problems of trainee staff (memo: just cook fish, overcook pork belly, not the other way around!!). Breakfast was wonderful, the mushrooms in the Big Breakfast were to die for!! Pool, spa (and gym) beckoned but weather and other touristy things took precedence. The unit we stayed in was excellent - obviously refurbished relatively recently. We look forward to the next Grabone deal, see you again!!

We have stayed many times and always enjoyed it - that is why we come back ! Initially, there were a few issues this time with the restaurant service - huge delay in getting the meals, leaving menus and then forgetting to come back and take the order ( hence no deserts on one occasion ) , and some untidy delivery to the table ( e.g. reaching across people to serve or clear plates from others ) . However, we did show some ' grumpiness' and things improved , with excellent service ensuing .

Had a very relaxing stay. Delicious food. Was a little disappointed with service of happy hour drinks. 20 minutes to supply then to see we were charged full price when settling account. (2nd drink)

The problem is that the computer automatically adjusts the prices, so if a drink gets posted in the computer after six o'clock it will charge to the normal rate. That is indeed most unfortunate as I am aware we are currently having some delays resulting from training up a very new team. My sincere apologies for this. Great service but tired rooms and below average restaurant

As always front desk staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. In the restaurant and bar service is always variable, Harsheet has not improved since our last stay and just isn't good unfortunately - forgetful, slow, not attentive. Nil continues to scold his staff in front of customers, or talk about customers negatively when others can hear, and always looks unkempt. On another note, when the restaurant is not busy, how on earth can waiter service take so long? They can provide such a good experience but never do. Having a menu, taking an order, taking dishes etc takes an unacceptable amount of time. Literally they just have 1-2 tables to look after, why can't they shine at their job with such a low volume of tasks to deal with? The food was a huge let down, absolutely nothing changes since our previous stays earlier this year. I understand the menu is updated every 6 months but the mains remain the same - both are absolutely crazy to me and it really makes me think twice about coming back. It is boring, repetitive and just makes staying not value for money, especially for Accor Plus, as there are limited other restaurant options. I had to send one dish back as it was disgusting, it was just taken off the bill without so much as a free drink or something else as an apology. I don't expect this but is a hallmark of a good restaurant in general, especially at these prices. Breakfast seems to have the cheapest stale bread, limited options for kids, and no fresh fruit. No almond milk for barista coffee this time, again so disappointing. It just seems like cheapest options of everything. The jam selection only had unpopular ones left - apricot and plum. It was never filled with standard strawberry or raspberry etc. Again this just seems like wanting to keep all the remaining jam until it runs out, not actually provide a selection to guests. Partner often got brought regular bread after specifically telling a server he is gluten free. Little things add up. I am allergic to maple syrup (strange but true) and had a full body reaction after a pain au chocolat. Maple just doesn't belong in that so was very disappointing. I did mention this and was told it was supplied from elsewhere. Well, please can you commit to following up with your supplier and letting me know? What can I safely eat for breakfast next time then? The pool was pleasant but dirty - so many floating insects & other debris that remained for our whole stay, it just got worse and didn't give the impression it was cleaned. At one point it was so bad it made my daughter get out the pool and leave. My partner had an issue with the accountant who was covering some front desk duties, being short and bordering on rude. The room cleanliness was not great. There were so many cobwebs on the ceiling - very large ones stretching across the ceiling. Upon reporting, was told not much can be done, it is too high to reach and they need special people to come in. Sorry, but you can get telescopic dusters that do the job, that is ridiculous to expect a guest to put up with. I was also told that ' well as soon as you remove them, they come back as spiders live between the cracks'. In that case, please get some pest control. There were indeed spiders in the kitchen, and ants on our deck and by the front door. Overall, there are so many problems I am really not sure this is deserving of a 4* rating unfortunately. If you compare to other Grand Mercure eg Wellington or Auckland, the standard is completely different.

Thank you for your in depth feedback which we will certainly discuss and take on board. You are correct in saying we haven't changed our menu, apart form the specials since your last stay in July, the new menu will be rolled out in November. The head chef is checking with the supplier regarding the chocolate croissants, I will let you know as soon as we have the information available. I couldn't agree with you more, we cannot be compared with the Mercure in Wellington or Auckland, our chalets are nestled into the bush and staying in the bush unfortunately does come with its own challenges. Lovely secluded rooms tucked away in the trees

Unfortunately the underfloor heating is broken in room 36 and it requires major works to rectify this, which we haven't been able to get around. The chalets are pole constructs and do have natural sway, the adjoining units unfortunately do not have separate floors to avoid transmission of movement form one side to the other as out Tawa Treehut have. Check in was very good. Location was excellent, except rooms I felt were a bit rundown and had a musty odour. Also queried the final bill as it seemed a bit on the low side and after speaking with 2 reception staff was assured that the final bill was correct. Only to receive a phone call later in the day asking if they can put through an additional payment through credit card. I felt that it was handled unprofessionally.

We enjoyed staying at the tree hut chalet. It was like being at peace with nature. They had good amenities... swimming pool, tennis court, spa, gym and a restaurant on site. All the staff here are very polite and attentive. Would stay again.
