An ok stay - not ideal for short city stay

Located on the side of the city closer to the airport, not a great deal around apart from a large mall, a department store and some local restaurants. Hotel itself is a classic Novotel - comfortable social public areas, rooms were a decent size, slightly older designer bathrooms but fine. Beds comfortable but asked for additional pillows (1 never enough per person). Separate shower and bath was a bonus. Swimming pool was 170m all round which was a little odd for kids not overly confident with deeper water, but a life guard on site. Breakfast was offered at a discount rate for advanced booking and was good value with a wide, fresh choice and eggs any style. Ok for a night or two.

We stay here now and leaving tomorrow. Hotel is okey and the reception staff is very friendly. Rooms are clean and good quality towels etc. It’s quit far from city center but easy with the metro a few minutes walk so convenient to get to city center. The restaurant is another story. Breakfast is limit and service is bad. Dinner is even worse. Tasteless food, entrecôte is a T-bone and also a bit tasteless and no side dishes. They run out of pizza two days ago so food for kids left us with nothing. Poorly service in the restaurant while people hardly speak English and the set menu is extremely boring and limit. No food access between certain hours so had to rush outside for food for hungry kids after a long city day. The hotel has plenty potential but seems like manager is missing.

A Great Hotel!

We stayed at the Novotel last week as we were attending a Cheerleading Competition in Barcelona. Really can't fault the hotel, it was clean, staff were super friendly and helpful, food was great and all the kids absolutely loved the pool. There is lots of seating out by the pool, both loungers and chairs with parasols, the hotel also provided beach towels as and when needed. We opted for the breakfast at 14 EUR per day per adult (kids are free) and there was a great selection of hot and cold food, hot drinks and fresh juices. The room was a good size, spacious enough with a dressing table, a free safe to use and also a fridge. The bathroom had a shower cubicle and a bath which was nice. It's close to the airport which is very convenient. It is about 30 mins in a taxi to Las Ramblas (the city), highly recommend using the FREENOW app for Taxi's as you can pre-book and get a fixed rate. About a 15 minute walk to the Shopping Centre Splau which has lots of shops and restaurants, and also a small supermarket right across the road where you can buy drinks, snacks, fresh fruit and salads.

Good hotel but far from centre

The hotel is good however location is far from centre. Pros: - Cleanliness - Nice front desk staff who is willing to help. Quick check in. - Good lawn and swimming pool area. - Higher than average size of rooms vis a vis European standards. Cons: - Location is far away from centre of the city. - Nearest metro is also 10 mins walk - Nothing in vicinity in terms of restaurants or markets. We did not opt for breakfast so unable to comment on the same.
