Location: Very good as entrance via stairs to subway is about 1-2 minutes away. For lift access got to walk about 5/6 mins. Very noisy though due to the main road where trucks/containers from nearby market and buses, cars etc more past non stop. The highway nearby certainly contributed to the noise. Hotel and room: Check in is on level 2. Hotel room corridor is painted a sad greenish blue. Toilets also has small tiles of same colour and a curtain is used for shower area. Kind of give a very sad feeling. Bedroom is generally white. Room is much smaller than the one at Sheung Wan and will be a squeeze for two persons. There were visible mold stains on walls and toilets as well as very obvious rust on metals in the bathroom etc. Very unsightly and offers super low value for the price paid. Room’s air con does not have heater despite a couple of nights being cold. The cold air is trapped in the room and bites into the bones. Air con is also noisy when turned on even at the lowest fan level. Payment: This is the perennial problem with Accor. They have different practises in different hotels. In this case, they deducted a 50% of my stay (tho said yet to authorise) from my credit card. And asked me to pay the whole stay when i checked in. I asked them to cancel the 50% pre authorised payment first which they did. They then proceed to charge my card in full for my stay. Their credit card machine then showed “failed” while the transaction via my statement was already through….i then paid by cash and have to chase the credit card company to do the necessary refund. ….. lots of texting and time spent on this which is unnecessary. Accor shd look at their payment system. Apparently, i am not the only one who has raised this as a staff in another hotel told me there have been many such feedbacks before….well, for me i will avoid booking on accor website especially since they are easily 10-20% more expensive compared with other platforms. As for this hotel, if you need just one night say i guess it is fine. For me, this is out of my choice already.

I booked this hotel a couple of months ago via agoda.com because of the view mentioned and what a spectacular view it was!!! The location is superb being within walking distance of the North Point MTR station or almost next to the MTR station if the correct exit is being used. My room on the 28th floor was not too big but it was more than sufficient for me as a solo traveler. The buffet breakfast was really quite excellent. The staff members were all quite alright. There was daily housekeeping and 24-hour security which i liked. Hope to return to this fine and safe hotel one day in the near future.

Hong Kong isn’t just a city — it’s a way of life. Skyscrapers tower over narrow alleys, parks and markets buzz side by side, and the rhythm is set by double-decker buses, trams, and the Star Ferry. This city lives on contrasts: the noise of the markets fades into the calm of the harbor, and the dense skyline meets green hills. As a traveler, I’m drawn to the soul of each place, felt in small details and everyday moments. It’s not just about buildings — it’s about the vibe on the streets. I sometimes write airline reviews, and the toughest are the ones where everything just works quietly, like a sysadmin’s job: unnoticed until something breaks. The same with budget hotels — when they’re good, it’s harder to explain. I’ve stayed all over Hong Kong, from hostels with triple bunks and thin walls in Tsim Sha Tsui to bigger hotels like Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza, and Pullman. This time I chose ibis North Point. My day started in the airport — my power spot and gateway to the city’s pulse. I used to grab breakfast in Terminal 2, but since it closed, my ritual is coffee from 7-Eleven and then off into the city. Getting to the hotel is easy: buses A11, A12, or E11, plus metro or taxi. I like the buses for the views. The stops for A11 and A12 are just a two-minute walk from ibis — perfect if you’re heading to or from the airport. A12 covers key points on the island, good if you’re unsure where to go. A11 is my favorite: it ends nearby, costs a bit less, and offers nice views of bridges like Tsing Ma. For saving money, E11 runs from the airport to Tin Hau Station in Causeway Bay, and from there it’s a short walk. I hoped for an early check-in and was warmly welcomed by Michelle Chan at reception. Her genuine care felt special — more than the usual efficient but distant service you sometimes get in Hong Kong. The process was smooth and quick: documents ready, keys handed over — and just like that, the day started right. For exploring, whether you’re new to the city or a seasoned traveler, I recommend a walk to Star Ferry in Wan Chai — a route I took on my first day. Passing through Victoria Park, I watched double-decker trams zoom by like a thrilling ride. The sunlight filtering through trees made the scene feel cinematic — a perfect snapshot of Hong Kong’s energy. Across from the hotel, there’s a waterfront promenade, ideal for a leisurely stroll. For me, Hong Kong isn’t about the metro — it’s these moments: roads, light, tracks, and ferries. The room is compact, as is typical in Hong Kong, but well thought out. The bed was comfortable with good linens — just what you want after a long day. The shower felt surprisingly spacious for this kind of hotel, not a cramped box. Plenty of outlets and USB ports, and fast Wi-Fi kept my devices charged and connected. High ceilings added a nice airy feel, and the big window framed views of Victoria Harbour and Kowloon’s vibrant contrasts, inviting me outside. I didn’t find luggage shelves, but my trusty bright red Crumpler Aviator, tested through countless flights, fit comfortably on the wide bed. I skipped the TV — might have talked about trams and buses, and I’m already a fan! Soundproofing was thin — you can hear guests near the lift — but at night it was quiet enough to sleep well with the AC off. The next morning at 7 a.m., breakfast was a straightforward buffet in a cozy room with wooden tables — not fancy, but solid for the price. The place was quiet. Hot dishes, toast, tasty sausages, and two coffee machines showed the local dislike for queues, especially for coffee — a nice touch that values guests’ time. Coffee, an apple, a toast — and I was ready for the day. As an Accor Platinum Plus member, I received a black branded bag — now my trusty companion alongside my backpack. ibis stands for simplicity and connection to the city. North Point suits those looking for balance and living in the moment. ibis North Point — balance, not luxury. Morning care, stunning views, and a vow to return.
