Budget hotel is a budget hotel

You get what it says on the tin. It is a budget hotel so there were no fancy amenities or decor. The big plus is free parking but make sure you put your number plate in at reception. It's about 15 min walk to the hydro or 20mins to the city center so an excellent middle ground to stay. It was a comfortable big bed and the room temperature was fine. There's a tv, soap and towels provided so everything you would need from a budget hotel. My partner described the toilet situation like going in a cupboard, once sitting down there is very little leg room and the sink and shower are within the room itself. Overall this budget hotel is a budget hotel with an added bonus of location and free parking. Would stay again!

Never book this type of room unless you really need the Bunk Bed!

The hotel was modern, clean with pleasant staff. I was in a room with a bunk bed only a couple of feet above my head. I banged my head several times, forgetting to duck to get into bed. I would never have booked this room if the position of this bunk bed had been clearly stated. Never book this type of room unless you really need the Bunk Bed! Also, I would have gladly paid a few pounds extra to have a kettle and coffee making facilities in room. The continental breakfast is very basic and no cooked food available. My booking request for a room near the lift, as I have a mobility issue, was ignored and my room was at the very end of a very long corridor. I was offered another room but this wasn't suitable.

Worst nights sleep in a hotel I have ever had!

Decent location, lovely staff (except 1 (maybe manager)). However the worst 2 nights sleep I have ever had in a hotel in my life! The thermostat is stuck on 20c which is great and cosy but it’s unbearable when sleeping. First night window open all night and still too hot, and loud traffic noise, next morning spoke to cleaner showed us how to work it and thought great problem solved, left for the day leaving the window open, arrived back at 1am - window now been open for whole day and it’s still roasting, thermostat still keeping room at 20c. Put fan on (as cleaner told us too) and it only blows hot air. Absolutely shattered havent slept in 2 days, spoke to (think the manager) at reception. Who said you should’ve come see us at the time? So either an engineer comes to our room at 1am or you shift us room and we need to collect all our stuff at 1am?

After staying at this hotel a few times, I decided to book this hotel again as my husband and I were attending a gig at the Hydro. When we arrived we noticed the hotel was cold and had a bit of a funny smell. We were checked into the hotel by Tara, she was lovely and very welcoming. We headed to our room on floor 6 and the corridor was freezing cold. We entered our room and again it was freezing cold. The heating system was just blowing out cold air! The room also had an awful smell, a drain smell!! We went to reception to advise the staff of our issue and again, Tara couldn’t have been more helpful. We were moved to another room on a different floor and the room was a lot warmer. However the hotel and rooms are tired looking and need some of attention and maybe a little updating, especially the heating system. We wouldn’t stay here again unfortunately but staff were great and huge thank you to Tara and her colleague Matthew on reception!
