Small town people working for an International chain….

It just doesn’t work. This hotel is an embarrassment to the Accor chain. Have stayed here over the years and no matter how much you feed back to them what can be improved it is just ignored. Checked in. No welcome as an Accor member and no mention of the complimentary drinks. When I enquired I was told it was on the app. Sadly my psychic powers were failing me that day so maybe you could actually tell me when I check in? Requested a high floor front facing room, received a 2nd floor room facing the back. Moved to a 3rd floor room facing the front and new room didn’t have any shower gel nor shampoo (both bottles empty). On the way back to the room I asked the guy if housekeeping didn’t work on Sundays and he said ‘of course they do otherwise your room wouldn’t be ready’. Well mate it wasn’t ‘ready’ as the amenities hadn’t been refilled and it could have been ‘ready’ the day before for all I know. Judging by the state of the filthy unhoovered carpets outside the lift and along the corridor I was beginning to wonder if there was any housekeeping at all. Your sarcasm wasn’t lost on me. The next day it was prevalent it was obviously beyond the wit of man (literally!) to program the room key for my 2 night stay as when I returned after being out ALL morning neither of the keys worked. Oh and just to add insult to injury my room hadn’t been cleaned and that was 12.30pm! The hotel wasn’t even busy! Did see a comment on a previous post about a cocky bloke working at the hotel and have to agree my encounters with him weren’t much better. You might think you’re funny but in fact you just come across as unprofessional and need to get yourself on a few customer service courses. All in all that was definitely the last time I’ll stay there. My visits to Carlisle are an annual event but there’s no point flogging a dead horse…..

Regarding the room service, our housekeeping team operates between 9 am and 3 pm, so it is not unusual for a room to remain unserviced by 12:30 pm. However, I understand your frustration and apologise for any inconvenience this caused. Additionally, I am are sorry that your room was not adequately prepared with the necessary amenities upon your arrival, this has been brought up with the housekeeping team, as has the corridor carpets, please note we were full on the Saturday night and housekeeping are extremely busy on a Sunday morning and I can assure you the hallways were hoovered following the cleaning of all the rooms. I regret that you were not informed about the drink voucher included in your ALL program membership at check-in. The ALL app does provide comprehensive details about your stay, including the drink voucher, but we should have communicated this to you directly, and I apologize for this oversight. The issues you encountered with your room key and for the unprofessional interactions with my staff, is not the level of service I aim to provide, and your comments will be used to address these concerns with my team to prevent future occurrences. Once again, I am sorry that your stay did not meet your expectations. We appreciate your loyalty over the years and are disheartened to hear that this was your last visit with us. The location is fabulous.. 2 minutes from the town and very very close to pubs and take out. I was expecting it to be noisey at night, but honestly heard nothing.. dont know if that was because we where at the front of the hotel. The hotel is very basic. No hand towels, just 2 bath sheets, so if you are thinking of washing your hair, you need take your own hair towels .. Paper cups No biscuits or bottles of water Air con thats didn't work. And the bathroom door didn't close Beds are comfortable and the pillows Car park is free after 3 o'clock by putting your reg number in ,at the reception, so if you get there before, you do have to pay. The female staff we came across where friendly and polite. We did meet a male member of staff, who was a bit cocky and liked his own voice. So if you aren't expecting much in a hotel Then book..

I cannot recommend this Ibis Hotel and would urge this poor hotel to be avoided...

I was extremely disappointed and let down by the Ibis Carlisle which fell well short of my expectations during my stay compared with previous patronage at other Ibis locations in the UK. The major plus point during my residency was now the majority of the hotel’s staff extended to me a fantastic welcome together with being efficient and professional, making me believe, that anything they could undertake to make my stay as pleasant as possible they would try to achieve. However, there was nothing the team at the hotel could do about the fact that the hotel infrastructure is now exceedingly tired and worn out due to hard usage and given that it has obviously been years since any attention has been given to the state of the hotel décor and amenities with the rooms especially requiring a major program of refurbishment. The rooms lacked any form of heating or cooling given that the system which should be supplying this facility had failed across the whole hotel, the carpets were stained and threadbare, the television was old, small, difficult to operate due to a faulty remote, the bed mattress was also old, worn out which made for an uncomfortable nights sleep, the water pressure from the shower was woefully lacking, shampoo bottles were empty, lights bulbs requiring replacing, I could add further issues that I experienced... Noise is also an issue, both from internal and external sources, expect to hear everything that occurs in the adjacent room due to the thin walls between the rooms and then be woken in the early by refuge collections being made in the small hours of the day. The open-plan ground floor reception, restaurant and bar communal areas are not a welcoming place to spend any time; there are no stools to enable guests to sit at the bar. In summary, despite the fabulous efforts of the staff, this has to be an Ibis Hotel that ranks close to the bottom of the league of Accor Group hotels in the UK (if not the world) and therefore I cannot recommend the hotel to others, in fact, I encourage other potential guests to avoid this hotel at all costs and stay at other accommodation in Carlisle

Booked for two nights for graduation, pricey 2* at £100/night. Air con in the hotel not working and it was very warm. Fan provided very noisy and as it’s right by bars and clubs it’s difficult having the windows open due to the noise. Corners and sides of carpets covered in dust. Dubious stains on carpet and bed. Strange smell to the room. Average breakfast. Like a midday checkout which is handy.

This is our go to place to stay on our way back to the midlands when returning from Scotland. It is in the middle of carlisle, good parking, very comfy dog friendly bedrooms and first class breakfast. Special shout out to Megan Chris and Theo. Highly recommended
