Hadrian’s Wall Walk

We stayed as a group of four with two rooms on two separate nights whilst walking Hadrian’s Wall. The rooms were clean and functional but very warm with a pod style bathroom which had a great shower. The one complaint we had was the “pet friendly” area, this was just an area at the side of the entrance by the pool table. We witnessed a family with four dogs allowing the dogs on the sofas, one did a poo on the carpet and one did a wee also on the carpet, the young girl picked the poo up in a napkin and asked the lady at the reception what to do with it, she just pointed at the bin under the open reception desk which is were it was put, the wee was just left to dry. I would expect a hard floor in a pet area and some cleaning materials as an absolute minimum? We ate breakfast here on both days at a cost of £12.50 per person, there was plenty of choice, it was hot and tasty and I would recommend it as an option if you aren’t keen on Wetherspoons which is just over the road. The second night we stayed was a Saturday and there was quite a bit of noise from outside with the window open but it’s a busy road with lots of bars etc.

Comfy bed but freezing room

Booked an overnighter to break a long journey. Arrived at the hotel around 6.30pm - the room was clean and tidy but cold so we put up the heating and then went out for something to eat. Returned to the room a couple of hours later and it was still cold. Put the heating up to full but it made no difference, it was freezing. Actually put a thermometer app on my phone to check the temperature - it was only 11'c (had to put my socks and leggings on in bed it was so cold). In the morning put the hot tap on in the bathroom to discover there was no hot water, it didn't even get warm. On checking out, reception was busy and breakfasts were being done (we were not having breakfast) so we didn't wait to speak to anyone as we also needed to get to the car park before 8am when we would have been charged for parking. It is such a shame about the cold room and lack of hot water as the room was clean and tidy and the bed very comfortable.
