A good place to stay, conveniently placed in a handsome town

Conveniently situated two or three minutes walk from the town’s square and market place, we were warmly welcomed by the very helpful and friendly Margot and Marina who continued to give us advice during our stay. Celine had also been very helpful on the phone from the UK. We were given a room with balcony overlooking the Rue Breney which provided a captivating view of the yacht marina and Trouville waterfront just a few hundred yards away. Do ask for a room with this view, best seen in mid/late afternoon sunlight. The breakfast was fine with plenty of choice and with a terrace overlooking the large private garden at the back. The quality of 19c. ‘Norman-style’ timbered architecture in the town is superb and the streets are amazingly clean - not a piece of litter anywhere. We had only one complaint - the long shiny plastic shower basin became so slippery when wet that it was very dangerous for the elderly like us. We had to request a rubber shower mat to make it safe. Why on earth are these shower bases allowed? They are a health and safety hazard. The Mercure hotel in Dieppe had a non-slip shower surface in our room. If you are interested in the arts, as the French all seem to be, do visit the Franciscaines cultural centre with its art galleries, cafe and amazing public library.

This is what a hotel should be. I booked at superior room with porch and got a beautiful room on the third floor with a nice size porch with two chairs and a table overlooking the yachts, water and far off mountains. The staff is helpful and accommodating. I highly recommend this hotel.

The Mecure Deauville Centre hotel is a good mid-level hotel, close to the harbor, shops and restaurants. The room we stayed in was basic, but had a private terrace with table and chairs for relaxing outside. We slept with our door open as the ceiling fan did not cool the room enough for our taste. Though not large, the room was comfortable. I don't think king-sized beds are available, so if you need that look elsewhere. The staff were VERY friendly and answered our questions easily. The morning breakfast buffet was quite good and there were many options to choose from. (including American style drip coffee for those who don't care for espresso) If you don't want to take a risk getting into and out of a high-walled tub/shower, ask for an accessible room!

Perfect hotel for a family of four, 2 nights with breakfast

We enjoyed two nights at Mercure Deauville, family of four with two young kids. All was fine, staff welcoming and helpful at the reception (where can you park for free, few streets away) and at the breakfast area (one kid has allergies, staff was helpful providing information). We got the family bedroom in duplex, which is two single beds and a powder room (toilet + sink) on the main floor, and a queen bed and bathroom (sink + bath/shower) on the top floor. We chose that for the fun part to be on two levels and our kids loved it. We had a bedroom that overviewed a garden, from the top floor you can see a bit of the sea that was nice. Breakfast is fine with fresh pastries, fresh fruits, bacon, scrambled eggs, pancakes, toasts… and to drink American coffee or Nespresso machine, warm milk, loose teas with tea pots. The breakfast area is not huge, I can imagine it could be busy on a weekend in summer but for us it was very comfortable, maybe 6-8 other people each morning and it was fine. You are in the city centre, you can walk to the harbour, shops and restaurants.

Real problem with the restaurant room for breakfast

The hotel is well situated and is very clean, the staff is very friendly. The problem is with the restaurant room in the morning : you have to wait until others finish as there are only +/- 20 tables for the entire hotel. So you are invited to stay outside if you need to have breakfast, on the terrace, totally wet after the morning rain. The parking is very tight, one should be careful when parking, the reception has no enough staff to serve the guests. It's been cold at night and the heating was not yet on. we did not have any spare blankets. The food at the breakfast menu is good. The bar at the reception is clean and cozy. We will not come back cause it's not a good price/service deal.
