Cheap but not cheerful !

Was heading to Switzerland from the UK and found Nancy to be a good location, I've used Hotelf1's for years all around France and found them great..... However.... the one in Nancy needs some serious revamping or maybe they are trying to kill it off to make the Ibis next door look better. Shabby, from the first moment you walk through the door, the tired room and the 'non smoking rooms' that stink of smokers inside & out. The toilet was filthy with years of worked in grime as was the shower, it was also cold. Just cold enough to make you not want to bother.

Tiny but cheap!

This cheap hotel has tiny rooms with shared shower and toilet that remind us of a plane toilet. Apart from that, it was across the road to a large shopping centre which was handy. The room was clean and functional (had a single bunk bed above our double) and there was a basin in the room which was handy. We paid an extra 3.95 euro each for the breakfast which was cereal and cakes and baguettes, yoghurt, spreads. Was decent enough for the price. A bit noisy during the night - I don't think the doors block out much noise at all. Lower your expectations and you'll be fine for a night's stay - worth the experience.

I felt like a refugee at Sangette!

We have stayed in other F1 hotels before. However, on this occasion I felt really let down. This particular establishment actually appears to be a series of pre-fabricated containers welded/assembled together to create a two story accommodation block. It stank of damp and mildew. Even the recent lick of paint on the interior could not hide the pervasive odour. It was to be an overnight stay on our journey to northern Italy, there was no way we could have stayed, particularly with our 2 year old. The good news? There is by comparison, a veritable oasis across the road called Etap (part of the same Accor hotel group) which appears brand new and offered us exactly what we were after.
