Have stayed in lots of higher rated hotels in NZ and Novotel around the world but this takes some beating. Booked myself online cancelling where my travel company put me and am delighted. Location fabulous, The reception staff unbelievably efficient and helpful. Lovely room with all facilities and great breakfast and service. Absolute credit to Hamilton and New Zealand

This was our third stay here and it's definitely our fave in Hamilton! The staff are very professional and helpful. The older Maori gentleman guest services/Porter and the lovely restaurant staff. Special mention to the breakfast waiter who we saw from two years ago. He is Tainui proud and so friendly! The rooms are very comfortable and we had a room along the river. Bathrooms fitted with NZ made lotion, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. They're fixed to the wall so there's no need to ration with bottles of toiletries. Breakfast is a very good selection of hot food, bircher/cold cuts, a pancake machine and a gluten free section! Always a good selection of fresh fruit and also nice to try the cold cuts and antipasto. Dinner is cosy and I tried the famous Jamal burger which did not disappoint! If dining out, two Italian and a Thai restaurants are immediately across the road. Skycity is also next door and has some options. WiFi is fast in the rooms and hotel areas. So is the valet service that we used. We will definitely stay again!

Almost everything you’d expect from a Novotel experience. Happy with everything except parking. Because of limited spaces being available downstairs and valet parking was fully booked we ended up eventually finding street parking around the corner. Parking garages are available a couple of streets away but it was raining and I considered that too far given the weather. I would suggest having more capacity available.

Attended the darts masters

I was part of a small group that stayed who were attending the darts. We arrived and went to reception to check in. There was a queue, and it took about 15 minutes to get to the front of the line. Upon getting to my room, the card would not work so back to reception and into the queue again. Once into the room, it was a nice room with a comfy bed and a great bathroom. We had drinks in the bar, and they had a good selection of spirits, including some nice rums. The breakfast was excellent with a good variety and plenty of tables to choose from. After our two night stay, I went to check out. All I wanted to do was hand in our room cards and go as we had had nothing from the mini bar. But here was another 15-minute wait. The novotel is actually quite a nice hotel but needs to sort out its reception.

We stayed for a few nights and it was very pleasant. Food was good, staff were courteous and professional, and it was located very close to lots of restaurants and cafes, a mall and the museum. Lovely little walkway by the river right behind the hotel too.
