We checked in smoothly and pressed the button for the lift. After a while it became apparent the lift wasn’t working. I returned to Reception and asked if the lifts were broken. I was informed that they weren’t, and no other guest had complained, so we could be assured that they were working fine. When we reached our floor I found the doors jammed half open. The next day I asked at Reception if we could get some coffee, as there was none in the room, despite a kettle and cups being provided. The Receptionist passed my request to a male colleague who advised that the provision of coffee was not possible, as it was scheduled for replenishment the next day. When I asked if I could be provided with some coffee in the meantime I was told it wasn’t possible. I asked him if we could borrow bikes. He told me to look downstairs at the machine and download an App. I asked him much it would cost and he told me to download the App. I said I would, but asked if he could just tell me the price please. He said this wasn’t possible. Finally, I asked if he could assist us with booking the Weindorf wine village right beside the hotel. He asked if I had the phone number, I said no. He said he was confident I’d be able to find it on Google. I explained I don’t speak German and would like his assistance booking it please. He said that this wasn’t possible. The room was fine, but the air conditioning sounded like an aircraft taking off, so we left the window ajar for ventilation, and were kept awake by road noise. In another hotel I might have asked for the AC to be fixed, but given my previous dealings with Reception we decided to just put up with it. I was surprised by the determination of the staff to refuse any assistance with what I feel are reasonable requests. I was pleased to leave.

Okay for a stop over. Wouldn’t stay longer than this due to aircon and parking

Hotel is easy to find, just set back off the road. Check in was quick Rooms are clean and spacious. The room did have air con which only seemed to work during the day. Would make more sense to have it on during the night and leave it off in a morning. Breakfast was good. Coffee excellent as I drink espresso and this machine was separate to the main coffee machine. Hotel has been marked down due to been told our motorbikes were not allowed in the garage and had to be parked at the front on the hotel and lack of air con at night. Don’t market these facilities if you don’t allow the use of them.

We were a group of over 8 people wanted to have dinner with no previous reservation. The restaurant was completely empty, with no other people dining. The restaurant staff were very unpleasant and rude, didn’t really wanted to provide any service and gave us only 3 or 4 food options. We decided not to stay. Really surprised with the bad attitude of this place

No air-conditioning at night!!

One star for one reason: the hotel claims to have air conditioning. I moved several VIP guests (speakers at a convention) into this hotel due to a heatwave in August 2022, to take advantage of the air conditioning. I woke at night soaked in sweat. No air conditioning. The hotel did not tell me they were turning off the aircon at night, and sent an engineer. I was pretty sure it was working, as it worked during the daytime. The engineer was gracious enough to give me a heads-up that it was off at night. The manager I was dealing with was dishonest. We spent several thousand pounds (GBP) that week with hotel rooms. Never again. Don't trust their airconditioning. Avoid in summer!

Check in at Mercure was friendly and really informative by Lara, after explaining hotel info gave us a map of the area and told us where to go. We had a Privilege room on the 9th floor for 4 nights with river view and castle view, very nice room and with slippers and dressing gowns and free beers and soft drinks in the mini bar which was replenished daily. Hair dryer, coffee machine and a kettle, and water bottle per day. Housekeeping was very good and room serviced daily and clean towels daily. Breakfast is superb, definitely include in your room package. An amazing amount of different cold cuts and cheeses and fresh fruit, catering for vegans too. Cereals with a choice of milks. An egg chef to prepare fresh omelettes etc. staff very nice and keep everything topped up. Always somewhere to sit despite the hotel being very busy. All in all, an excellent stay and we had no problems.
