Disappointed.. expected so much more

Apart from the paint work in the room (black with some gold lines) and a small velvet covered chair in the corner there was nothing “luxury” I found with this hotel. The bathroom was very small and the door didn’t close all the way. There was a smart TV but only a few channels, no satellite, no Netflix no good things to watch. The complementary coffee was not topped up our entire stay. The shower wash was not filled , ran out on the first day and not filled the entire stay so clearly was not checked . The “chocolate hour” was nothing to write home about, it was a std chocolate fountain with some basic ingredients and the chocolates were not nice. Restaurant and bar is tiny. Asked for a room with a view and got a room right above the entrance looking directly into a set of townhouses. The air conditioner was extremely loud, we turned it off while we were in there. The beds were very comfortable and we slept well. Good black out curtains. They have a VIP elevator at the back of the building(city side) which you can use if going to town and you don’t have to go up the steep hill. Close to town. We were relocated to this hotel from our water front booking as they had to cancel. Requested view of city due to the change in our view and got booked in a room above the front entrance looking into town houses. Gave my card details on the phone and when I arrived no one had saved them. I expected so much more from this hotel

Staff are amazing, super comfy bed, quiet and dark. Plus if you are lucky to be there from 4-5pm it's chocolate hour!

The staff, in particular John made my stay memorable, but all were amazing! The view of the city is spectacular. Easy walk into town and superb coffee at the restaurant every morning. The rooms are not big, but super comfy bed and block out blinds. It was very quiet, dark and dreamy.

Excellent service and a chocolate hour!

I’ve stayed here a few times before and whilst there was great potential, the service was not yet 5 star. This trip was different. Over the last year the level of service has dramatically improved and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. They were always so lovely and helpful. The chocolate hour had some better offerings but could still be improved on by replacing some of the many plain moulded chocolates with some truffles and filled chocolates to provide variation and interest. The addition of a jar of something akin to Jaffas in the front reception lounge was a lovely touch! I would certainly recommend staying here and look forward to visiting again.

I was supposed to stay at the Mövenpick Hotel Wellington, but unfortunately, I had to cancel my reservation for personal reasons. I had already sent the cancellation by email well in advance. However, on the original check-in date, I received a call from the hotel asking if I would still be arriving. I explained that I had already cancelled, but the next day, I noticed the charge had still been made to my card. I decided to visit the hotel in person to show the email proof of my cancellation. I was assisted by Mit, who was extremely kind and professional. He carefully listened to my situation, took ownership of the issue, and assured me I would receive an update within 48 hours. As promised, the matter was resolved, and the refund was processed. What stood out the most to me was Mit’s professionalism and genuine care. As a hospitality professional myself, I truly appreciate seeing such dedication—it was even inspiring. Thank you, Mit, for your excellent service and for upholding such high standards of guest care.

Dark, terrible and poor

This hotel is located on the terrace but has poor views. The hotel is presented as an upmarket property however it is a re-done property with dark corridors. We were to be upgraded, due to our Accor ALL loyalty status but staff refused despite the mid week stay during a quiet week. The bar has okay views, if you like looking into other people's houses. The biggest killer is the parking costs (valet). There is parking available but staff won't offer this charging $49 per day for parking. The car tyres had mud marks, as the car (rental) was run on the kerb by the parking staff. Overall, avoid this if you can.

Without full details of your stay, it’s difficult to comment specifically, though there may have been high occupancy, public holidays, or blackout dates during your visit. Our bar offers pleasant views over Cuba Street and surrounding greenery. While we’re close to residential areas, this setting allows guests to enjoy a peaceful stay just moments from the city. Our valet parking rates are highly competitive for central Wellington, reflecting the convenience and security of on-site parking. Unfortunately, having empty spaces does not equate to complimentary parking. Lastly, our location does not naturally have mud or sand nearby, so we’re unsure how your car developed these marks, but we would be happy to investigate further.
